Antonio Conte - officially NOT the coach of THFC

Imagine though if conte was as brave and commanding as people thought
He could resign and walk into a new job in the summer
But that takes balls
If I were the manager of a team that had performed as poorly as us, and at the end of the game my club's fans were singing the name of my predecessor, I would have gone to the board and said "I don't think I should continue here; I am clearly not wanted." And that's not even balls; it's self-awareness.

Then again, maybe he did say that and Levy asked him to stay until he lined up a replacement. Who knows.

True but I wouldn't walk away from a few thousand from my job no more than most people on here. He's within his rights to hold out as is every manager in a similar position unless they are guilty of something unethical or of gross misconduct.

You could argue bringing Sanchez on Weds night at 0-0 constitutes that, or even continuing to start Son every week

How hasn't he been sacked? Why oh why is he taking this weekend game when even players are losing the will under him publicly.

Someone give me the reason please I beg

Have the pic of the south stand with the “To dare is to do” tifo at the top of my stairs. It just hit me bang in the face and my heart sank. That’s nothing more than a marketing slogan.
Not quite the same but in a similar vein : was on a flight yesterday morning (what a great time to get away from all this disappointment) and I watched the Elvis film. There’s one part where they play a snippet of the rousing end of American Trilogy and my heart just sank as I thought “what glory”?
I’m aware I’m being very emotive at the moment and maybe a couple of wins will pick me up but going out of two competitions pretty much back to back has an end game feel to it and it’s on Conte’s head.

Cowardice from the board; or (even worse, given the way things have been going for some time) the lack of a plan.
Not based on anything, but I think the delay is because they’re negotiating the payoff. He’ll be in line for a big bonus for qualifying for champs league and we’d be removing the possibility of him achieving that. You could argue the way he’s managing the team atm, he’s the one removing that possibility!

Yeh, loads they would need to sort if they were going to

I've maintained they would give him the weekend to gauge a league barometer on the league after the cup exit, could be very telling weekend in my opinion

Seemed to take issue with the manager’s tactics too.

According to Jack Pitt Brooke on today’s View From the Lane podcast the players have found training “boring” for some time and many are questioning the tactics.

I’d say Richarlison’s interview is a signal that they know Conte’s gone soon and any ‘fear factor’ has gone already.

Certain elements of training are repetitive and can become boring but I'd imagine it's the tactical parts that they may have an issue with as we rarely seem to change anything in our play.

Richie doesn't strike me as a sulking character a la Ronaldo, who would say such things because he has a big ego. He's a team player. So I'm just guessing here that maybe he felt he had the license to say what he said because more players were disillusioned with Conte.

He looks an emotional person to me who swings between highs and lows and benefits from an arm round the shoulder at times, don't think he gets that from Conte.

I think a lot of people don't realise what it takes to succeed at the highest level. There are probably a lot of people who've played football at a higher level than I did but one thing I always lacked is that self-belief that makes people immune to criticism and setbacks. Footballers are often described as simpletons and while most of them aren't the sharpest tool in the box, the best ones never give up. If you think others around you are better players (regardless of whether they are or not) or if you start second-guessing yourself because of a comment you heard, you end up watching every game from the sidelines. Romario, for instance, was absolute dingdonghead but he was also so confident that he made people around him believe he was the best thing since sliced bread.

Talent's good. Being able to work hard is critical but if you can't convince yourself that no matter what, you'll get what you want at the end of the day then you don't belong at the highest level. That's why you see managers say they can salvage a season even when it's obvious to everyone that they won't make up for lost ground and that's why guys like these will blame anything and anyone else before they admit to their own shortcomings. You'd have to know him personally to be sure but my guess is that money is secondary to Conte. Unless they sack him, he'll keep on trying (without changing anything though) because, from my (admittedly, very limited) experience, that's how these people work.

Timing
We as a club have a habit of sacking managers around games when there is more time for the new guy
Sack him Sunday and it gives poch a week with the players before hand

I don't think we would sack Conte on his first game back.
Isn't there an international break coming up as well?

Football fans are a fickle lot. Levy could appoint Luis Enrique, get some easy fixtures to start the season, sign a couple of exciting players and nobody would give two thoughts about Pochettino and Kane. Nobody did last season, when we had a great run and snatched 4th...

Conte pulled off a miracle there, but make no mistake, some have never forgotten/stopped thinking about what a monumentous fudge up sacking/not properly backing Poch was.

surely give Mason this weekend then, and then bring Poch or someone else in. It's unforgivable that players are questioning him now, he's totally lost at the club and he's still here this weekend.

We might win, we're playing a team in 14th with the second lowest goals scored this season, but it's simply a sticking plaster til we inevitably rooster it up the following week. just has to go.
