Højbjerg doesn't play the holding cm role for Denmark. Delaney is usually the deepest, with Højbjerg further up harassing and chasing, which imo is his best role. However, the positions of Delaney and Højbjerg are pretty fluid, and they interchange role frequently.
 
The thing that gives me optimism is that in Conte we are getting a proven winner and force-of-will manager in his prime. Even if he stays with us for just the 18 months that his contract is for, he will have instilled a completely different mentality in the club and players; one that even Poch couldn't instill. After that you can bring back a Poch or go for Potter and the aftereffect of the Conte reign should carry through and allow them to be successful. Keeping him for an extra year would reinforce this even more.

The other area Conte will impact the club is in the transfer market. He is going to "force" some signings that will improve the team that another manager might not have had the clout to force. And he will probably make it easier for us to sign some of our targets as he would likely be a huge draw for said targets. Couple that with clearing out players with the wrong mentality and whenever he ends up leaving he will have left a much stronger squad and tougher mentally. He did that at Juventus and he did that at Inter. No reason why he cannot do it here too.

All in all, this is a win-win for now and for after he's gone, unless our players are really beyond salvation, which I don't think is the case.

I get all of that but who is to say that he doesn't simply just love being at Spurs, working with his mate patarici getting his hands covering the whole club and letting Levy sit back and allocate his budgets.

I know his history but he has usually left due to not having that control that he feels that he needs. If and a major if at that he proves his worth to Levy, and pushes the club forward ... then it's only Levy that will and can fudge it up ... should conte be a success from the off.

Agreed and I wish that he stays with us for a long time. I was just making the point that, even if he doesn't, his mark may be felt long after he is gone.

Yes I want Conte to shape the dressing room culture according to his no-nonsense winning mentality. And work with Paratici to create a working relationship and balance between the management of the stadium and footballing matters

Agreed! not including Hugo..Moura is our 3rd most important outfield player when he's fired up! following Kane and Son..IMO.
Interesting times at Spurs again and again ad infinitum..;)
