Well if Kirk wouldn't want me to feel empathy for him I'm gonna do it just out of spite.Kirk wouldn't want you to feel empathy for him. He said as much last week. It is too 'wokey'. We need to respect his wishes on that.

Which again quite a few people seem to think is them being the best version of themselves.......and grifting, never forget the money angle.
There's a time to kill fascists and theocrats. Let's hope, for us, that time never comes because I sure as fudge don't want to. It's not this time. Even completely disjointed from ethical reasons (which you as usual put words to really well), it doesn't make strategic sense imo.Carefully chosen by who is the issue. And how powerful is the target that society feels they need to kill them when they have not broken the law?
loosely tied in, maybe i'm too leftie, but the whole "we should debate people rather than ignore them".
Why should i debate someone who thinks the holocaust is akin to the abortion debate? really?
No respect for the deadWell if Kirk wouldn't want me to feel empathy for him I'm gonna do it just out of spite.
And why should you be stopped from having a view because they are dead, its literally what he lived for and championed. You can't have it all ways.
Saying the civil rights act was a mistake because it opened up diversity, inclusion and equity........................
.................Maybe that will be argued that it was godly and well thought out
As far as i'm aware he said there were many parts of the civil rights act that he liked but the way it has been implemented was a mistake. Leading to inequality. One example he gave was that white and asian students had to get higher sat scores than black students to get into universities. Another that air traffic controllers and pilots didn't have to have the same qualifications as white people. He argued that this was racist and led to a lowering of standards.
If he said something else i don't know about that.
Exactly this. The asymmetry of reaction between Kirk's death and the recent assassinations of democratic lawmakers is something to behold. As was once said, never let a good crisis go to waste, and they won't. Trump is threatening the left even though he has no idea who commited this crime. None. Kirk had enemies on the right too. But that doesn't matter to an extent, as it is already decided who they would like to blame. Kirk is their next martyr and they will milk it for all it is worth.Whatever he said and didn't say (I had never heard about him before yesterday) doesn't really matter - his death will now be used as a battering ram against US democracy from those who wants to destroy it.
Scary as hell to watch society unravel and history unfold in real time in what was once a great nation.

Imagine how funny it would be if the shooter turns out to be a spurned (male) lover. There's actually probably more chance of that (on the basis that 95% of murderers are known to the victim) than a radical centrist gone rogue.
that's another bug bear of mine.Would also explain the overly pushed "christ is great" rhetoric behind all the hate he spews...........sorry spewed
that's another bug bear of mine.
The whole wearing of the cross and espousing Bible verses whilst ignoring some of the other fundamental parts of the Bible. it's just pick what you like and ignore the rest to go "it's in the Bible". Many love to bring Christ in to suit their narrative. Rees-Mogg did it constantly.
Kirk was recently asking for the release of the Epstein files, which drew some ire from the wingnuts. Loomer called him out, so maybe someone took the instruction literally.Imagine how funny it would be if the shooter turns out to be a spurned (male) lover. saw a great tweet along the lines of:
"Nothing justifies the shooting of Kirk. That being said, Kirk himself would have justified it, had it happened to someone else".
Another news title was "Kirk dies as a victim of his own ideology, its the way he would have wanted it"
Bernie sanders has the same views on gun ownership. Wonder if the headline would be the same if he was shot?
