It's another narrative. The "injury ravaged" phase was over by mid Feb. From then until the season curtain raiser we had a strong squad. A few were feeling their way back but we had more than enough fit players to manage that process.

lol - it's obviously because we played 3 games a week. Another one of my favourite Angeisms.

I don't think some of the performances we saw matched up with some of the teams we put out, we were getting out played in pretty much every league game with decent teams out there.

There is obviously going to be a drop of levels, but is it acceptable to see the drop off we did?
 
By the way, note that Villa were very p*ssed off about not getting into the CL on the last day.
But they will be rather pleased to lift the UEFA Europa League trophy this time next year, after beating Ferencvaros, Bodo and Frankfurt.

Now there are no CL dropouts, the Prem teams will become favourites every year I imagine. Just 1 team each year right.... but then, how come Spurs and MNU were in it this year? Edit - oh, FA Cup, Palace right?

Wouldn't argue with that - but the tweet is about some not understanding why he prioritised the EL when the answer is in the very next line of the tweet. Like I say, whether was right or wrong and all that you mention are a different matter.

Ally Gold doesn't provide anything ground breaking about Spurs at all, a bit of early team news at times but beyond that? He certainly doesn't deserve the tag of some reliable Spurs mouthpiece.....

It's like Father Ted explaining the difference between sheep that are near and far sometimes (absolutely not aimed at Rob who you were chatting with).

Two categories -

A -Things that happened.

B - Everything else.

Those that lean into category B a little too much are the same that were delighted we came back to earth with a devasting lose to Brighton in a truly impactful encounter. "More ammunition to support wot I reckon, thank GHod, I haven't had good news in ages!". Obviously we are all entitled to have a different view, but those mentioned above need to have a word with themselves.

In fairness, to indulge in a hypothetical myself, we can talk about Jose as a manager who didn't win anything with us but it's worth remembering well that he took us to a final and wasn't given the chance to win it. Some people look at that and Conte fired in 4th compared to how dreadful we were in the league this season as inconsistency from those who make the decisions, others will see it as progress. Entirely perspective I guess..

I have flip-flopped on Ange, looked a prickly dead man walking and I wanted him put out of his misery, but what do I know. If you said 16th / 17th and a EL trophy, I'd have bitten your hand off. But it's easy for an armchair fan to say that, different if you're subjected to that week in week out whilst spending a lot of money to do so.....

Controversially I'd rather EL grant qualification into the EL, better to have a crack at winning it two times on the trot whilst having another season developing a young core. fudge the spreadsheets.

He has rarely, if ever, complained about the club structure and direction. In fact, he has spent more time defending the club than any manager since Poch. Certainly more than those two 'winners' we hirted, who essentially made sure to put a moat between them and the club from the get-go.

Your last sentence is along the lines of the questions I'd have expected Ange critics to be asking far earlier than now TBH...I think there's something to be said about it...yet despite all of it, he won a trophy and got us into the CL. Imagine...

I'm not going to say anymore on the matter, i will bookmark this page and if he does get another season i will come back to this and say i told you so in November. If somehow he does change his way and he is in fact the Messiah i will happily take it on the chin.

He certainly appeared to be acting more proprietorially about THFC than a lot of our managers in his early dialogues. If there is a concern though, the theme has been less and less over time. In fact the Mathys Tel question last week appeared to be him having a swipe at the hand that feeds him. I think this is where we need to be careful with Ange's complex personality. He's clever with words and can say what suits at the time. There is a huge authenticity question mark in my mind about the man.
