How often was pochs team in the europa league with nothing else to play for (for months) and no cl drop outs?
Poch's team and redknapps would have walked it.
Celebrate winning a trophy by all means but lets not pretend we are suddenly a great team because of the manager.
If we keep ange, next season will be horrific. I don't want to go through that.
Have you seen who knocked pochs team out of Europa????
I’ll do the work for you because it wasn’t very often but it’s not great
Florentina knocked us out in his first season… that was the round of 32. By the way they were not a top side before that’s claimed. We played them the next year and knocked them out and we went out to Dortmund who finished 7th in the bundesliga the year before but we’re clearly getting better by that point
The year after it was the might Gent, again in the first knock out round.
At no point did we get knocked out by a CL drop out
So maybe it’s a trade off for a club like ours

Agree to part ways amicably. A pay-off for winning a trophy and achieving a place in the CL

Get Poch on the phone and ask him if he fancies coming home
He's already home. He still lives in Hadley Wood, about 4 miles from the training ground. That's where he gets ChatGPT to tell him which rando nobodies he should pick for the America squad

65? Never realised it was that bad

Only West Ham and Wolves have conceded more PL goals than our tally of 126 against since Postecoglou took charge and Wolves are the sole club to have lost more games than us these past 2 seasons.

Do hope that if he’s still our gaffer next season we’ll have signed another couple of CBs with the attributes of Van de Ven so that he can rotate between them and keep those precious hamstrings out of the danger zone.

Failing that then perhaps Ange might learn to compromise on his ideology and park the bus occasionally, like he did to win the Europa League.

What’s the point in this line of argument? At no time did Poch ever give up on the League in those seasons. I don’t really care anymore if we keep or sack Ange, I am neither for nor against tbh. Just over the moon that we won a trophy. For that I am thankful to everyone at the club.

There are many reasons why the managers pre Ange (all of them, not just Poch) didn’t win their trophies, none of them because he is the better manager though. The stars aligned for him in ways they didn’t for the others. I am going to leave it at that.

What he perhaps is saying in his comparison with Brexit and Trump. Is that advocates of either refused to see the facts that were quite obviously staring them in face. Just as advocates of giving Ange another year are refusing to see that we were extremely lucky this season that there was 3 absolutely terrible teams below us.

otherwise we would have been relegated. We lost 22 league games which I heard (not sure if true) is the most prem games ever by a team not relegated.

Thanks.
I understood the metaphor perfectly. I personally found it insulting.

You get CL with the trophy. I mean blimey, the absolute gymnastics people do for this guy - double counting the Europa win....it counts as two achievements now! We don't even need to bother trying for 4th, just win the CL we will be fine! Throw the league again!
Nope not what i said, where did i write throw the league? Or even imply that? I say we build and go again, and of course the league is important - you think we'll win it next season? What if we dont, dont get relegated either but get another trophy? I absolutely want us to win the league, i also think we need to strengthen the first XI and squad. I just think fair enough, he gambled this season as form fell off a cliff with lengthy injuries that the league was no longer viable for entry into europe and CL in particular - give him another season, levy has a trigger finger he pulls when he thinks it suits, i bet he was sweating last wednesday

We are not the same team as Poch had, and it failed to achieve what Ange has.

Lloris>Vicario
Walker > Porro
Alderweireld = Romero
Vertonghen > Van Der Ven
Rose > Udogie
Dembele > Bentancur
Dele > Maddison
Dier < Kulusevski
Eriksen > Johnson
Kane > Solanki
Son > Son *

*Sonny has fallen away a bit now from his peak.

Theres a lot of circumstances around all of this but Poch had a far better team and better depth as well, but didn't achieve what Ange has.

I love Poch and want him to come back and finish what he started in a couple of years, but not now, there's been nothing in PSG or Chelsea's play to suggest he's any better than when he left really.

I love Poch.
Loved him during his entire time, right up to the point I seem to remember being engaged with similar arguments about his merits with posters who have since either disappeared or changed their tune.
I wouldn't want him to endure a similar level of brick and abuse from some of our fans if he didn't deliver.

Can we? I'd take 17th again if it meant winning the Champions League, yup!!!!!

Ange aside, I think Levy should use this wave of a European trophy and UCL qualy and get in 2-3 top players. I don't see us doing so well next year with the current set-up, so no chances of bringing highly rated players next summer imo, this is it.

Considering his record in the CL at Celtic, we might simply be grateful to win 1 game in that competition next season 😅

Played: 8
Won: 0
Drawn: 3
Lost: 5
Goals For: 6
Goals Against: 18

If he goes it'll be one of the most pathetic decisions in Levy's time. He's delivered the one thing we all wanted and it's still not good enough for most of the posters in the last couple of pages. An absolute embarrassment.

It’s not pathetic at all, difficult yes after the last few days but if he were to go based on the evidence of the past two years it would be an understandable if somewhat sad decision given last Wednesday.

No it won't be understandable at all. What do we want??? Finishing in the top 8 is the only way to save a manager's job?? A trophy means nothing in that sense?

No one can ever possibly convince me that's the way to build a successful club. It'll mean you're forever chasing something that you can't even fudging define.

my view is that a club our size and history is supposed to be in europe year in year out.
well at the end of NEXT season how do you suppose we qualify for CL with ange ?

FYI This seasons relegated teams were very poor and exited very early in the competition.
- Leicester accumulated only 25 points - we gifted them 4 or 16% of their points came from us
- Ipswich ended with 22 points - we gifted them 3 or 14% of their points came from us.

ange is learning but we need someone who is starting at a higher level.
no one knew what his ceiling was when we hired him but now we know his floor too.
