I have no more faith than you that they will pick a suitable manager but I think the chances of that lessen dramatically if we have to do it mid season. Like you said I don't believe we are a particularly attractive option for an ambitious coach and picking up next season after another poor start just makes the job even less enticing. At least if we were to win the EL a new manager has the prospect of the CL to excite them and plan for.

I agree with this.
I don’t think he’s a good manager and at times( recently most of the time) his attitude also does not sit well with me.

Having said that I watched an interview with him on you tube with tnt sports, think it was this week and it resonated with me. He came across humble and a man who has dreams and aspirations like us all. This is a guy who has had to fight for recognition and respect and he has come very far. Fair play to that and for that I hope he wins the trophy as much for himself as for us and I can wish him well in that note.
We have mutually achievable goal and let’s hope we do it

I do not think he is the man for us and I do want him gone, I have done since October/November, even the end of last season I thought the writing was on the wall. Yet you flipped me off when I said its mad to keep him :rolleyes:

Ange performance has been an abomination bar the EL and he has to win it or its even worse than that , if he wins it fair fcking play, he also likely gets next season. But what he doesn't get is the deckchair moment of dining out on it at the expense of next years league. If the form reads L-D-L after free he can hit the skids and no one can complain IMO

The idea we gave up the league for the EL is fanciful in itself, that would have had to be the case about 5 games in and most sane people know it wasn't.

Agree with all of that except Ange getting next season - unless there is a very clear plan on how to improve PL performance. And that has to be more than the EL results - sad as it is, the EL performances are PL mid table.

I will take it all day long, I'm gonna celebrate hard if we win, but there are some fanciful stories being told on how we got there and why the leagues forms so bad IMO

Thing is, this is the Europa League now

So it should be easy for all the English teams to do what United and us have done if the standard has dropped that much

But they won't.

I don't agree, most sides winning things keep a semblance of form and confidence running

It's ultra rare that a side comes from nowhere to win a cup against the tide of their season

The EL final is a rarity that both sides are sh1te and both are in sh1te form

A couple of anecdotal times isn't loads. I guarantee without looking the majority of cups are won by successful or teams innform based on the context of their own stature and form.

No one wants to go into a final like we are IMO and the only saving grace is the opposition being as bad

There are plenty of examples
The only think that may skew it would be the years where one team wins everything like we have seen

It’s cup football. It’s all about the one off
