I rarely comment on pressers but that really was such a self indulgent one from Ange. He repeatedly fails to take responsibility for any of the issues this season while at the same time emphasises the relative "success" in the cups.
I don't get his comments around "finishing 5th being talked about as a disaster" last season. I think fans were understandably disappointed with the way the season ended given it had started with such promise and ended with a relative whimper. But most, including myself, felt it gave us something to build on. I am glad he was kind of called out on it by the reporter. Oh and newsflash Ange, it was your team selection and tactics that lost the City game last season. That was not on the fans.
He claims to be railing against the negative narrative around the club. While failing to acknowledge that the way you change that, is not just to talk about it but to win games consistently. There is an undeserved arrogance about him in the presser. If he does win the Europa League, it will be like the League season never happened in his head. He'll say "that was the plan all along, looks my system worked.'
The stone cutter analogy particularly emphasised that arrogance. I mean it must take meticulous preparation for his defence to be as bad as it was against Forest when your first choice CBs are playing and yet suggest that the players will eventually get there. I honestly cannot wait for him to be gone.
