Or we anticipated Richy and Sonny being able to play
And odebert
And moore
And wernrer
And maybe even Kulu at the time
Odebert 19
Moore 17
Werner Patently not good enough
Richie Already proven to be chronically injury prone.

Like I said, poor squad building. Teenagers tend to be young and inconsistent, dumb to expect we can depend on them.

I keep being told that “the underlying data is good,” but every statistic that I see suggests that we are dogshi t.

Trust the process…
  • In their first 11 Premier League games this season, Tottenham faced an average of just 9.6 shots and 3.4 shots on target per game. In their last four, they’ve faced 18.8 shots and 6.8 shots on target per game.
  • Their defensive frailties have seen them lose 14 of their 33 Premier League games in 2024, just one fewer than they did in 42 games in 2023. They last lost 15+ league games in consecutive calendar years in 2002 (15), 2003 (20) and 2004 (15).

What I see on the pitch worries me but yet I still have faith in the “trust me, we’ll get through this and it will be better on the other side” mantra. Maybe I’m naive, I don’t know. But I want to stick it out and see.

I want to go down that road and part of me can't help it, but then my brain kicks in and says "what the fudge are you on about?"

Kulu has been playing
Richie had already proven his unreliability
Werner had proven he was simply not good enough
Moore had never played a second of first team football, relying on him just dumb.
Odebert another teenager, with the inconsistency of youth.

Like I said poor squad building, especially as ownership knew we were in 4 competitions.

FIFY.

You’re welcome.

Great point above.

Jose and Conte were lambasted for needing a certain type of player for their system to work. They were called inflexible and dinosaurs and chequebook managers.

Now it's Ange however and it's a 'philosophy' and he needs time and backing and it's not he's fault. What's the difference that at times it looks attractive?

I didn't want them sacked and I don't want him sacked but it's interesting how these things are framed depending on the individual. The football we're playing now is consistently worse than anything those two served up but now it's acceptable and not the managers fault.

I agree with this, but the main thing the way I see it is Jose and Conte were brought in to bring success as soon as possible, while Ange was always brought in to be a project manager, attempting to mould something great over time, which is the main argument for people wanting him to stay and crack on. I can see that, but as with any project, you need to be evaluated along the way, how is the project going, are we progressing? It's been 1,5 years, sure there are mitigating factors, but is he the right person in charge of a project? I don't know, but it's not looking too great to me at the moment. Really hope he is able to turn it around though.

How long are you willing to back that mantra without seeing a change in results?

It's not poor squad building, for the first time in a while we are building a squad. The problem is the squad is being built for 2-3 years time and fans don't have the patience for 2-3 games nevermind 2-3 years.

I think there was patience, but we’ve been in relegation form form for a while and things are getting worse.

He’s got to show he’s willing to change to pick up points when plan A isn’t working.

The fans do have patience, what they won't tolerate is the insane decision making, and poor performances.

Ange is his own worst enemy.

I'm not talking about Ange and his decisions, it's about the squad that's been built, two different topics.

I know.

But you also mentioned patience from the fans and lack of.

As i stated, Ange is his own worse enemy. It's okay to build a team for 2/3 years time.

But at the same time you can't go around showing yourself to be a blithering idiot, repeatedly showing yourself making awful choices and decisions.

Fans don't have to be patient for the sake of being patient. You still need to be showing nuggets that it means something, but Ange just isn't showing that.

Yes, i believe in the project and projects take time, but i also believe in having the right man for project too. Ange isn't him.

He is just not nuanced enough and far too stubborn in his approach. I can count the number of times on one hand, the number of times we have actually seen Ange ball... Even then I doubt it really was.

Is this the fastest growing thread in recent history? 55 pages in 2 weeks. Ange surely does divide opinion

Well, I would suggest it is poor squad building if you are so focused on building for the future and at the same time are failing to appreciate what needs to be done right now.

I do not blame Ange, but ownership needs to take responsibility

Well that’s the question isn’t it. Right now I think we will turn things around but if we start getting dragged into a relegation fight (I don’t think we will) then it will be much harder to keep the faith. I want to see performances improve because a) results should follow; and b) it will show the players are still with Ange.
Get to the Carabao SF and finish top 8 in EL and we’ll wonder what all the fuss was about :)
