If there is a Tottenham fan who would rather remain unconfident of winning the europa league because they do not like the manager, then best they keep whatever misery-juice they're drinking away from me...

It will go down as having won the Europa League.
We are marked as having won the UEFA Cup twice.
We are marked as having won the European Cup Winners Cup once.
The Europa League is what resulted from merging the European (renamed UEFA in 1994) Cup Winners Cup and the UEFA Cup together.
The Europa League is thus NOT the same as the UEFA Cup. I know some clubs list the Europa as the same 'rebranded' trophy, but it simply isn't.

The Champions League is a reimagined European Cup. One trophy.

...different format of the same single tournament...
i’m sorry mate that’s just not correct

even UEFA’s official records count the uefa cup wins toward the europa league.

we would have won it three times

This guy is a complete one trick pony.
Dropping Spence was criminal.
Why bench Sonny afyer his best game for ages. We are only playing once a week now so the tiredness excuse doesnt fly for me
Porro and Udogie arent defenders ( well not any good at it at least). Against 2 top wingers they got found out again.
Lastly, why give minutes to Werner?
The guy has not had one decent game for us.

I for one don't think he is clueless. I know it is difficult to take but given that there is no way we are going to finish in the champions league places and our best chance of getting there is winning the europa league so he prioritised the AZ match. This was the least important of the next 4 matches so I think it shows long term extremely high level thinking. Another example where if fine margins pay off we are the next level. I believe or perhaps want to believe that if we maintain this trajectory with long term thinking we will be serious contenders next season... But I don't think Tel is the man!

It's risk/reward

Get good results in that 4 match run = genius, don't = fudging donkey

The argument would be, on a good run, at home, with a team we do well with, with 8 days till next match, why make those changes?

I think he is trying to ensure we have a big squad of fit and ready players as we go into the business end of the Europa league

He is doing what people were criticising him for not doing earlier this season and resting some players. Hopefully we’ll have a big, fit, non fatigued squad from now until we win the Europa League.

It was good to see us with a strong bench and our second half performance could easily have seen us get something from that game.

The first half was awful though and, we made some similarly poor decisions at the back vs Ipswich, which fortunately they didn’t punish. I would love to be wrong but our defensive naïveté does not look like it’s going away- which is why I don’t think we will win the Europa League. As I say, I hope I’m wrong.

It’s sensible to prioritize the Europa League so with the bigger picture in mind ( a long awaited trophy and a place in the champions league), it makes sense to manage the squad.

If we do win the Europa League ( which is a big if), the question is does Posteoglu deserve the start of next season.

I guess the answer would be yes, even though i think that long term his particular brand of chaos isn’t sustainable, he does earn the right to have one last hoorah

Defense (despite personnel) was not the main issue IMO first-half. It was uptop. We had good possession but every time a Maddison or Bergvall looked ahead there was poor movement from a front three who simply have not played together. Thus I think a lot of our first-half issues stemmed from poor movement ahead of the defence. It did not help that Brennan had one of his 'less conviction days'. He should've at least taken an on-target shot in that first minute or so, it's an angle he's scored several from this season!

Yes. I replied to Billyyiddos comment below your intitial one and acknowledged that (you must've missed it). I am not afraid to hold my hand up when statistically wrong.

The CWC was rolled into the UEFA Cup however, which did become the Europa League.

Fair play

Anyway let’s see how this all plays out

If he is here in the summer then I hope he can show that he can manage in the premier league but so far he isn’t up to scratch. I can’t stand his press conferences and make me dislike him that much more. But what do I know? Just my opinion.
