Andy Robertson

I thought Welsh players were considered homegrown by the PL but not by UEFA. Is that not correct anymore?
UEFA changed the rule in 2022,.

If we somehow get back into Europe next season it’s going to be 50+ games the ideal is you have Udogie playing 60% and coming off with 20 mins and then the other way for the remaining games. Same for Porro & Spence.
You just wrote, “if we win the Champions League”

We’re not going to be in Europe next season. We are going to be very bloated with any more signings.

We're only 7 pts out of 5th. If we can (somehow) win games against those teams above us, it is very doable.

I've always disliked Robertson, thought he was a dirty thug who got away with it because he played for Liverpool, decent player and I suppose I'll have to support him now.

Naybet and Davids put us on an upward trajectory.

It wasn't really Harry's plan to sign Saha and Nielsen, he wanted much better as we were in with an outside chance of the title at that stage and ended up having to settle on those two at the end of the window when the club hadn't delivered. A better player to use as an example here for Harry is Gallas, a player that improved us.

It's been said before (by me too in fact) that Naybet was King's on-field coach and spirit guide. I think this is a great signing for short-term experience, which we need more of (to clarify, not too much more!). I wanted us to break for Kimmich two seasons ago for a similar reason. These players do so much for those around them...

My concern with this signing goes back to a conversation we had before

- Robertson under Frank could be a left sided Porro, spamming in crosses from deep, pass ball to Winger, winger passes back to FB, both FB's spam crosses into our 1 CF in the box ..

The more I think about it ...

Well I think it could well be mate, however I think that if we stick with TF, that is our future (like it or not style-wise) and Souza's going to be loaned and trained in a similar 'art'.
Giiven we are where we are, I think as a short-term signing it works well. It's all very Harry R in terms of getting in short-term experience to wade through a thicket, and it's also (like Gallagher) a profile Frank likes with regards to 'characters' in the dressing room who roar and run. Personally, I would love to see an artisan or two signed, but the truth is I think it'd be wasted in this set-up. For now, providing the money is not massive, this is decent enough for me.

@thfcsteff , @Raziel I think this is simply a person to give Udogie a kick up the butt plus less pressure to rush him back when he's out crocked...

Hopefully if/when Udogie plays he's a lot less lacksadiascial from now on knowing his place isn't guaranteed. If he learns as well from an old head a la Naybet, then all good. If he still shows the same weaknesses i'd look to upgrade over the next year all things being equal.

Pretty sure we’ve been in for more skillful wingers. But hard to sign players who are going to be at a level we want in Jan. Their clubs will be relying on them if they are quality player.

Early days, but if you watched Spence’s last game, as though he’s a new signing from France or somewhere, you’d be excited. Or I would be. And singing Robertson does three things potentially: unleashes Spence to develop as an attacker. Gives us a natural LB to cover Udogie. And add some much needed leadership.

To be fair to Udogie, he gets injured a lot which means when he gets back on the pitch he is always searching for form and consistency. It's not easy to show the early high levels he did when he first arrived when it's stop start for him:

There is a world where he makes sense, cover for Udogie, lots of experience, etc.

There is a world where he is a missing piece for even more awful football, we will see

You guys are saying that Andy Robertson is captain material and can deliver motivational pep talks during training, and a rousing speech before a game?

To our multi-cultural team, this is what he will sound like; hide the subtitles and try tae ken wa sed ba tha ferra heeeeem
