Andros Townsend

Nothing really came off for him but it is was a better performance from him than his usual. He mixed it up, didn't shoot on sight and kept his man occupied. I think to many people are comparing him with allis display. We've all moaned he shouldn't try those tricks and in his last two run outs he hasn't. Not a fan but if he keeps going in that direction he could be a useful player.
Tracking back is still woeful though.

There were a few occassions last night where I thought he was good. There were also just as many where he didn't get his head up in time and good opporunities were lost.

People need to watch that second half again. One of the worst performances I've seen in a long long long time. The amount of times he lost the ball was infuriating.

Yeah he did unfortunately. However he didn't hide at least and what he was trying to do was the right choice (mostly) even if it didn't come off.
He's lucky he doesn't have a silly haircut and a foreign name - then he'd really be in trouble.

His headless chicken routine works a lot better as a sub when the opposition is tired.
I said so after the Sunderland game. Townsend works for 15-20 minutes. After that he's so predictable, because he keeps doing what worked the first time, over and over again, so the defenders know exactly how to deal with him after he's done the same thing 2-3 times. I also said I'd hold my hands up and apologize if he played a 90 minute blinder in the next game. Well..... he didn't. As expected.

Was utter dogbrick last night.

Both him and lamela

I don't think townsend has had half the encouragement, well wishing and patience than Erik has received. Just like soldado, his name, rep and price tag seems to have convinced that he will come come good and show sonething eventually.

I saw neither him or andros are good enough to start premier league games regularly.

If he wants to be a squad player and used at the end of games fair enough, but he is not worth a starting place ( nearly 90 games for us and still has the same faults), for his own sake its probably best that he trys his luck elsewhere.

I'd rather have the 10-15m and replace him with a young player with the potential to improve - no use having backups not good enough (or potentially not good enough) for the first XI as you're at a disadvantage if you have to rely on them for more than the odd sub appearence

I do agree and I was hoping he would go during the summer but it was not to be. However he will be here to Jan at least and he did do well when he came on the other day, I think he can do a job but only to open up the opposing defence in the last 15 minutes of a game.

Come Jan I would expect him to go.

Head down, run with the ball, do a couple of stepovers, run into a blind alley and go back again. He is as easy to read as a childrens book.

What tricks do you think he has?
I think he is a limited player, but when he came on against Sunderland I thought he played very well indeed.
