American politics

In my book you’re alright mate and most importantly I’ve never seen you lie.

Thats the key here.

Edit. I class myself as a socialist
Why, thank you.

I class my self as a sustainablist have done so for 20+ years. I don't care if people make money as long is it is done;

1) Fairly

2) Not at the expense of everyone else

3) pay their fair share of the cost)

4) Done with a sustainable use Earths natural resourse and ecosystems. I.e. not oblitorate the entire planet for everyone else going forward.

With the ultimate aim of advancing technologically far enough that we can harvest the resources of the solar system and go wild.

So I'm not a captalist, socialist or communist... Sustainablist, as there is no point doing anything if we run headon into a self imposed dead end.

Nonsense.

Dr Who tanked because they made the Doctor a gay black man who wants kill the Daleks by 'twerking them to death'

He also wants the The Doctor to destroy his enemies by being 'fabulous'. Eh? It's not Rupauls drag show it's meant to be a family sci-fi show for a Saturday tea-time audience. Most folks aren't into this rubbish and hence it flopped. Everyone with a brain knew it would flop. It's been quietly dropped after the Christmas special which was already in the can. Ncuti was the guy who finally killed Dr Who. Yay!

Your line about gamers is even more nonsense. They are sick of Black Rock sponsored institutions such as Sweet Baby Inc...Check out their lead devs opinion about the gaming industry

They are hired to make the games more 'inclusive' and 'diverse'. These companies are generally populated by extreme left wokists who's agenda isn't to make great games but to put across their agenda. Is it any wonder they are flopping left, right and centre? They were found out pretty quickly by the brickness of their product.

This little operation cost Sony 200million and counting. There are countless others with Sweet Baby incs touch and on Steam they are being named and shamed and gamers are refusing to buy them. There are many others doing this under Blackrocks aim for DEI and they are all flopping. You can look it up for yourself.

Go woke go broke. It's really as simple as that.

That park place seems like some place.

On the Dr. Who thing. An actor wanting to take a science fiction character in a flamboyant direction. Outrageous.

And then the description... The actor wanting "kilts and skirts and all kinds of gender-pushing, societal-pushing outfits". That is described as the "show will attempt to push disordered sexual behavior". A fictional science fiction character in kilts and skirts and that constitutes "disordered sexual behaviour"?

This analysis of course lacks any wider context. Things like streaming and competition as well as the rather obvious phenomena of most TV shows eventually getting lower viewing figures (unless, as is the exception it's stopped while still being at it's peak). Everything is about the wokeness, everything is outrageous.

On the "Sweet baby Inc" thing. From what I can see that's one bullet point, in one presentation from one one employee at one consulting firm. That bullet point is "Burning the games industry to the ground" on a slide titled why am I here. No further information. From what I can tell this was not mentioned at all in the actual presentation.

The interpretation from that park place is that this is an admittance that this person's goal is to burn the games industry to the ground is their goal.

What is the "story" here? This person has this goal secretly and accidentally put their usually hidden aims in a bullet point in a presentation? So many alternative hypothesis here. Hyperbole, humour, metaphor, symbolic expression etc. Of course none of those are mentioned by the article. Everything has to be interpreted in the same way, the anti woke way.

Of course the anti woke will usually have no problems themselves presenting hyperbole, metaphors, symbolic language. But this has to be interpreted literally. This is what the outrage machine requires.

And I'm sure there are a lot of these stories. And I'm sure some of them have truth value at their core. Of course some woke people take things too far sometimes. Just like every other group of people. But this constant outrage at everything isn't analysis, it isn't an ar gument, it's only in bubble feeding of the same narrative again and again.

Jamie mccrimon wore a kilt on Dr who in the 60's.
I didn't realise it was pushing gender whatever.
And this is what I don't quite understand about a lot of this, the people who are pushing against it are the generations brought up with Bowie, roxy music, Marc boland, or the later generations with boy George, divine and there was another one, was it marilyn or something.
When I see the chubby bloke in outrageous black rubber gear (Sam Smith?) I don't think 'oh my GHod how avant-garde' or "that's pushing boundaries" and I certainly don't think he is pushing dangerous agendas. He looks like David brent in a stupid costume.
My dad has a great saying when it comes to sex, the young think they invented it.
It's also a little disturbing if you dwell on it 😝.

I don't pay any real attention to Irish politics, North or south of the border, it has nothing to do with me and too many people have too many unhelpful interjections IMHO.

But this is a lesson that many in the political world could learn from.
You are there to represent all, you are there to build bridges, not sow divisions.

I think things have moved on a lot over there since the generations directly involved in the fighting are now past. But i suppose there was Mcguiness meeting the Queen thing that was a big marker on this road too.

Sinn Fein need to do a lot of this reaching out stuff to ensure reunification is smooth. Even though they have a nationalist majority now (a voting age one approaching too), they need to stop unionists being afraid of that future. This is another encouraging step

I'm not as convinced as many that reunification is that close, much like Scottish indy, there are a lot of people that say they are for it until they are asked to pay for it.

There seems to be a feeling that demographics will have tipped enough that a border poll around 2030 would be likely.

I think the costs would be a lot less than Scotland as its not creating an infrastructure for a new country, its just moving a fairly small region from one back to another. And they are already reasonably well integrated economically.

Maybe.
Polls in Scotland that have a majority in for indy very quickly turn by a very good margin if they are asked would they still vote for it if they were £1000 per year worse off.
It's easy to write off if you aren't living week to week financially, but the economy is a huge issue for a lot of people.
Something that the politicians don't appear to want to acknowledge.

Well according to some Dr Who it wasn't made for for white males... And they didn't watch it, resulting in Dr Who lowest ever viewings.

Its was family entertainment... So it wasn't made for a minority of narcassistic assholes that want to make everything about them either.

There is group on steam called sweet baby inc detected, as a way to highlight games that were infected by the mind virus.

Baby inc then started attacking group the group demanding people report them calling them sick, just for not want to play the games with the shyte they are pushing.

Someone even hacked the steam account and tried to delete them.

And as before, the you have editor of Kotaku messaging someones wife trying to ruin their marraige.

You can ignore it all you, but you'll keep on getting the trumps of the world.

They are losing votes hand over fist in the Republic of Ireland after a series of child sex scandals, corruption and poor governance in the roles they have held. They are polling at around 18% as the election campaign gets underway down there, down from a high in the mid 30s.

Demographics are misleading. It is a mistake to look at the numbers and think that a simple Catholic majority in Northern Ireland means people would vote for a united Ireland. The biggest employer (by a considerable distance) in Northern Ireland is the British state. Turkeys don’t vote for Christmas. I have plenty of Catholic friends who are completely happy with the status quo.

It’s highly unlikely to happen in any of our lifetimes.

Purely from the outside and trying to not pay attention to the headlines, politics in the south do appear to be a cesspit atm.

I thought all 3 big parties in RoI are pro-reunification, so it doesnt really matter whether its Sinn Fein or not in government?

Not really. SF have had a scandal or two but their support was on the decline anyway. This will just accelerate that. Their support will bleed to independents mostly I would think. Generally speaking the support for the incumbent government is relatively high, hence the call for elections now to capitalise.

So a bit like May?

They are theoretically pro unification, but not actively so in the way Sinn Fein are.

As @glasgowspur says, it means little anyhow. The Good Friday Agreement says that a majority in Northern Ireland must vote for unification before it can be considered.
