I don’t know much about American politics but it strikes me as being very partisan. Where you have just 2 major parties to follow then you are going to polarise the vote share. You are going to have staunch republicans (and staunch democrats), you’re going to have the “better the devil you know mob” the fact that Biden looks old and frail, then add to that a populist message, with simplistic solutions to complex problems you can see why the votes will stack up. But even with these things in his favour, it still looks like like over half the population opted against him.I don't think you can account for 75M people with just populism.
Whatever we all think of Trump, we have to accept that a very large chunk of the electorate out there either likes him or, at least, prefers him to Biden.
