American politics

Even on a divided forum like this. It is simply impossible to defend this qunt. Let's just hope for a change in two months time. For those of us with vested interests in that country or a smidgen of global care in terms of climate change or general peace, he needs removing from office.

I absolutely despise the man.

Don't think this forum is divided, people just have different opinions about things. Which is how it should be.

I hate the McDonalds paper straws, the way they feel on my tongue makes my skin crawl, I only get a shake now when I get drive-through to bring home, where I can use a metal straw.

I'm with the Donald on this one.

Army for Trump. What could possibly go wrong?

Worryingly I don't think we've seen the worst of 2020 yet.

Sadly, I think this is inevitable. As Kellyanne Conway said openly, "chaos is good for us". I think between COVID, the ongoing protests, his administration's attack on the post office, his regular claims of rigged elections & voter fraud, the usual voter disenfranchisement, the fact that mail in ballots are usually counted later, the millions of people are being evicted (and here in the US when you move you have to re-register) and likely now not be able to vote, that there will be enough chaos to allow him to claim victory and refuse to leave office. Moreover, his supporters will believe ANYTHING he says; they've already swallowed such a farrago of contradictory nonsense that their credulousness is beyond question. And, it being America, they are very well armed.

The weird thing about trump is that he doesn't really have a political agenda. I might not have supported reagan or bush I or cheney, but they had actual political agendas that they wanted to enact. Trump, by contrast, wants attention, an excuse to hold rallies and induce people to use his properties so he can line his own pockets. By all accounts he doesn't really do much besides watch fox, tweet and golf. The one big thing he accomplished was a massive tax cut, which went mostly to those who needed it the least. Other than that it was all just froth and distraction.
