Aaron Lennon

And you sir are wrong (in my opinion), and see steff's post about 2 up.

Lennon has a great variety of crosses, pull back into the box (which JD uses to love), regulation cross (which Kane should have buried yesterday) and the back post floated cross.

Watch most of Lennon's crosses that don't work out and ask yourself, was it a bad cross or did we simply fail to get someone into the box/far post/etc? Also look at Rose/Townsend and from other teams any pacey winger and see how many crosses they put in row Z, Lennon almost never puts the ball out of play.

To SpurMeUp, that is a problem people have with Lennon that I don't agree with. Yes, Lennon doesn't change the game on his own (see my previous post), we need to get the ball to him, I want him staying out wide, last thing we need is another player drifting into our congested middle.

This.
With Walker, the pair had a fine relationship. But it's all about systems. Pre-season, I saw a lot of promise in Lennon being the right-side of that three, but Chadli has largely taken that berth from him.

Lennon is systematic of how rubbish we are at the moment and how far we have fallen. A guy who has cruised along in the comfort zone for years on end. Its simply a sign of how bad we are at the moment that people want him in the side.

Cannot believe he is nearing a testimonial. Is there another player in Spurs history who has spent a decade at the club and been so underwhelming.

nearly dawson.

Disagree with this. Lennon and Walker look like strangers who have never played together.

Lennon hasn't been the same since Corluka left.

Agree. It is such a shame. He had all the potential and started so well for us. I was on the edge of my seat every time he got the ball. He outshone even Bale in those early days. He could have been a great. It all seemed to go downhill as soon as he got his England call up. He has never been the same since.

I disagree. There is a reason why he has ended up being a first choice player for every Spurs manager he has played under and that is because the team plays better when he is in it. I would not be at all surprised if history repeated itself again.

I would be hard pressed to name a more underrated played in England.

Lennon is one those players who promised so much when we signed but delivered little after that. Really thought he would go on to become a big star for us. Instead he is still an average player until now, largely because his finishing has not improved much over the years. It is amazing he has been at Spurs for 10 years without making a big impact consistently.

Agree with this so much. Those two were smashing it, remember Charlie putting in great ball after great ball for Lennon in to space in front of him to run on to. Walker just tended to trip him up/get in to his space always overlapping.

100% agree, really don't get where all the negativity towards someone like Lennon comes from. He has spent almost 10 years here, he has never hid . always works for the team and on his day he can be devastating, but even when he is not on top form he consistently puts in 6-7 out _of 10 performances.

People talk lack of player loyalty... Well its a two way street.

well said

lennon works well with a supplier...not someone trying to be him

Well played today from Lennon, strong shift, can only assume he came off for Wednesday's game.

was most noticeable that he was very vocal today, not sure if that was under orders from Poch, but saw him more vocal than I have ever seen.

Lennon always seems to play best for us after he's had a kick up the **** - either from losing his place in the team or competition being signed for his place.

He was very good today and gave the entire team shape and width that we've been lacking, the perfect player for the fast paced counter attacking football we played today. Would be great to see him kick on and put together a run of form as he's still one of our best players when on song

He was great today. He looked hungry for the ball and worked very hard for the team. I was a bit surprised to see him come off so early but I guess there might a non-tactical reason for this.
However I do agree with the post above. He certainly needs to be challenged to get the best out of him. I have a feeling that the rumoured 'shake up' behind the scenes might have given him a bit of a wake up call. If that is what it takes then good.
