TF needs time to continue building from defence to attack. Doesn't help that two of our regular starting defenders get injured after the internationals. The funny thing is that Frank has talked about his key principles including being brave, taking risks, and playing attacking football.
Didn't someone say that since his ankle injury he's lost a bit of that? There's definitely a player there, but he lookes a bit "jet lagged" kinda?
He knows what he should do and do it to some extend, cut left, cut right etc but he lacks a bit explosivness to really take advantage of it, often get caught up by the defender and fall over or pass it backwards.
Hopefully something that he will add on in the time ahead.
Could very well be the case. Seen similar with Maddison after the injury. I recall him pre-injury to be much more explosive, like the way he turned Saka in the NLD, but post injury he lost that extra yardDidn't someone say that since his ankle injury he's lost a bit of that?
Hard to tellDidn't someone say that since his ankle injury he's lost a bit of that?
Hard to tell
Be nice if we passed him the ball to see it
Speed of pass to him doesn’t helpHe needs some space to work in.
A few times he has got the ball and cut in he has too many players standing around and has to pass it back out wide or backwards.
I think he will do well once we get Solanke back who can occupy the cb's
Those things are only talking points until we actually see it in actionThe funny thing is that Frank has talked about his key principles including being brave, taking risks, and playing attacking football.
Yep, we almost never pass to them. They are an island. Might as well play Sarr there for his pressing/tackling, or play Crouchy there for his headers at set plays.Simons and Bergvall when playing as the 10 mostly suffers from the same thing.
We're not getting them involved. We're not finding them in pockets of space. The game mostly passes them by, not as a result of anything they're doing or not doing, but as a result of how we play.
Yeah. Until we're willing to actually play with some risk through the middle, play Bergvall/Gray in midfield as well as Simons for example, we may as well play Simons on the left. At least he'd get to get on the ball.Yep, we almost never pass to them. They are an island. I agree. It's not rocket science what is going on with the kid (imo) - he was a bit shocked by the pace and physicality of the league, and the fact he has less time on the ball than in the Bundesliga. When combined with the fact that the majority of games so far have not been situations he thrives in (i.e, they have been gritty, physical affairs), he's lost a bit of confidence and now either struggles to make a decision or rushes it and makes the wrong one.
It's natural - lots of players start out like this. Wirtz is doing the exact same thing at Pool, and cost like 2.5 times as much. It's a rare player that comes in and bosses it right from the off - even Modric struggled initially and needed a season as a winger off the left, to adjust.
It will concern me if he's still like this come the end of the season. For now, I hope he just takes his time to adjust.
