Transfer thread

No, I'd agree but I think we need to look for a genuine left back to support Udogie rather than utility players that can cover both sides adequately.

I'd imagine a LB is high on the list this summer - I'd hope that we would be in the market for a level of player who could compete for a starting spot with Udogie though, whereas KWP would be player we pretty much know would be purely signed to be backup.

As an additional signing to that LB and as utility player, considering his club trained status, it makes a sense.

It's one thing for us to look at KWP because he is club trained and versatile. It's a completely other thing why KWP would look at us. At 28, he needs to go somewhere where he plays his main position and is first team choice. He'd be mad to rejoin Spurs in my opinion.

Last proper contract. Might want to make as much money as he can before he retires.

Not saying it's the right move.

So who is left back cover
That’s been a huge problem
Can’t have one player covering both sides with the injuries and fatigue w have had
KWP plays both sides and actually is technically good with the ball
Not so good defensively
We definitely need a specialist LB in the Udogie mould. Mitchell from Palace would be ideal.

KWP struggles at RB, id hate to see him exposed on his wrong side.

If i was him, id go to France like Gomez did, who has similar problems. 7 stone midgets in defence or midfield just arent really cut out for the EPL. I agree he's good technically.

I like Mitchell and know the club were keen not that long ago

Such a strange one with so many claiming he was out of contract in June. That is clearly not the case and I believe his contract runs until 2027.

Personally, I can't see us paying the money as Palace have a strong hand. In fact, I think it is Mateta and Guehi that only have a year left on their contracts. Mitchell, Eze have 2 whilst Sarr and Wharton have 4.

Unless Romero leaves, you can see it being tough for us to get any of their best players.

There's never been any confirmation of a contract extension.

It's listed on Transfermarkt (which is usually accurate on these type of things) as end of this month: https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tyrick-mitchell/profil/spieler/730893

We should not waste the money or a squad place on someone like KWP, who we know for a *fact* is not good enough.

We know for a *fact* we will have a lot of injuries this year as we try to fight our way through 50-60 games, so will need to rely on the full squad, rotating properly.

We have reams of data scientists and scouts and DoFs who should have identified some exciting 23 year old internationals we've never heard of e.g. the full-backs from Germany/ Austria/ Sweden/ Portugal or whatever nation who turn out to be raaather good.

But you can find 2027 if you dig around on google.

There's articles. Only Palace know why they didn't announce it. I'd be shocked if that extension wasn't signed.

True. But we've got 37 senior players on our books and are well over our quota of 17 overseas. Being smart with HG or CT for a secondary role like this might be crucial

I think I would be more into your logic if his primary position was LB. It is not. We have right footed Porro, Spence and Gray who have RB covered. We already have a rightie who can play LB, plus VDV.

I also get the club trained angle with the 2 or 3 former LB's being mentioned and the lack of an existing U21 emerging.

Still not for me though.

KWP would be the 4th choice rotation

You would think it would be Porro/Udogie/Spence - either side / KWP

Getting someone to come in for that role would be tough

Could promote from youth of course

Yeah, i still dont want KWP. But Cirkin or Berchihe as CT options, or (much better) Mitchell for HG. Rather than a random Estonian data led option, purely to do with the quotas
