*** Tottenham Hotspur v Nottingham Forest ***

Lord have mercy!
  • Spurs have lost their last two Premier League games played on Easter Monday, with both of these defeats coming at home – 1-2 vs Manchester United in 2006 and 1-2 vs Norwich in 2012.
  • Nottingham Forest have lost just two of their last 35 league games played on Easter Monday (W21 D12), while in the top-flight they’re unbeaten in 16 (W13 D3) since a 1-0 loss at Chelsea in 1966.
  • Nottingham Forest’s 1-0 win in the reverse fixture ended a six-game losing streak against Spurs in the Premier League. They last did the league double over them in the 1996-97 campaign.
  • Tottenham Hotspur have lost 17 Premier League matches in 2024-25, their most in one season since the 2003-04 campaign (19). Manager Ange Postecoglou is one of three Spurs bosses to lose 17+ games in a season, along with Osvaldo Ardiles in 1993-94 (19) and Gerry Francis in 1996-97 (18).
  • Tottenham Hotspur have lost 16 of their last 20 Premier League matches against teams starting the day in the top half of the table (W3 D1) and have lost eight out of nine (D1) since winning 4-0 against 2nd place Emirates Marketing Project in November.

It's easter, this is when the resurrection of ange begins.

To your last point, I was a huge fan of Neville's defending. His positional sense and reading of the game was exemplary and he was a talker to anyone that played with him. That being said, Neville was born in 75 and his breakout season was 94/95. He then played another full season at RB before being the youngster in Venables 96 Euro team. Makes you wonder how good Neville was at Archie's current age. He has only just turned 19. Prime Gray could be anything but he will never be quick.
I like Gray a lot, there's a lot of potential in there but I don't see it at FB, mainly because to be completely honest I don't think hes played particularly well there or looked comfortable. In the middle at CB hes looked very promising, not enough to displace an actual CB but to be a very decent fall back option. Like most I'm excited about seeing him in midfield as the attributes he has shown like the switch pass and his comfort in the ball really look to be what is needed in CM. If course how good he defensively in that role remains to be seen.

The fact Forest are so high up the table, Saudi Sportswashing Machine and City losing 9/10 games this season yet they are all battling it out for third makes it even worse for us. This really was the season we could have got back into the mix. We are appalling.

Ain’t going to challenge for 3rd by averaging 0.5pts per game against top half clubs, don’t even have the consolation of positive GD.

Archie Gray definitely needs to start in midfield. We relied on him for so many matches this season and he deserves to have significant involvement for the rest of the season, especially as we seem to have decided our league matches are not significant. I believe we shouldn’t write off our league matches but of course they are less important now than our matches in the Europa League.

What we need to do is try different things in our league matches, experiment to see what can work for us and to give time to players whose future could be significant for us. Gray in midfield is one of those. We need to see what he can offer us playing from midfield.

That said, I expect us to play a stronger team against Forest than we did against Wolves. We have ten days after Forest before we play in the Europa League. We have to be winning this one as we can’t lose every league match from here until the end of the season. We need to have confidence from wins and some ongoing general form for us to win the Europa League I think.

Neville was deceptively nippy, fast wingers weren't ever something he struggled with, plus he's just better defensively in the wide areas than Gray is. Like a night and day difference.

Gray is 19. I don't think he's going to end up as a rb but comparing his defensive abilitiez to neville who was one of the best rbs and played in one of the best teams this country has seen is a bit unfair. Especially as that team didn't play a suicidal high line. With little protection for the defense.

Use these games to help develop some of the youngsters. Moore needs gametime. Anyone with a knock let them heal. Anyone that's tired give a rest.

I was going to say just this, not sure we would "have to be winning this one" at all...

The result doesn't really change a lot. Give minutes to players who need them, give tired players a rest. Forest are a really good team this season and it should be a good experience for younger players to see the levels required. Whilst it won't be great if we do lose every league game, as someone who harps on about the honour / prestige of actually winning something instead of being also rans, everything has to be about preparation for the EL or for gaging whether young players are ready for next season.

Whilst it's not like Moore has looked completely lost at this level, he's had a few unimpactful games getting hooked at half time iirc. If he gets a run of games now and the same keeps happening, the worst case scenario is that it'll tell us that a loan might be for the best for next season. There's no shame in that, he's got plenty of time / potential. I'm all in favour of Moore on the left and Wilson on the other side, who looks particularly confident on his left (so much so that I had to check his profile to see if he was left footed).

I would also like to see a combination of Grey, Sarr and Kulu in midfield, but that could go horribly wrong.

If Daniel Levy successfully bribed the PL today so that the league was stopped now with Spurs being awarded x3 points for all our remaining fixtures and everyone else being awarded a loss for all their remaining fixtures, we'd still finish outside the European qualifying positions and only 7 other teams would have as many losses as we do. That's how depressing this season has been.

I would like to see some of the youngsters get more game time in the league now, but the balance still needs to be right. I don't want to see players thrown in just to fill a gap.

Danso will get a run out, Kulusevski and Richalison could do with more game time.

???
Porro Danso ???? Spence
Gray Bissouma
Kulusevski
Odobert ??? More
Not sure if it's worth giving Kinsky a run out or not. It will probably be Davies at CB, but would hope one of Romero or VDV will start along with Danso.

Is Richalison ready to start a game?

Ive a last-minute thing that's come up and cant make tonight's game - If not allowe,d please feel free to delete but I'd be happy to sell 2x tickets block 323 south stand safe standing for £60 (Under face value) - Been a member on here for years - must have a CRN - PM Me happy to do PP G&S if you pay fees

I f#ckin hope so!!! I'm absolutely Richy's biggest fan on here, if he could actually stay fit, CF is probably our best position for genuine competition (Spence and Porro for RB is another good shout thinking about it).

I'd rather Sarr than bissouma but apart from that, your team looks fine to me, although I haven't really been watching of late so what the fudge do I know!

All those talking about basically throwing the remaining league games, if we finish in our current position we will receive only just over £14m in prize money. A final push up to the dizzying heights of 12th (probably the highest we can realistically finish with a last gasp drive up the table) would almost double that. Which is more than we would receive for winning the Europa League.

For those that aren't prepared for the catastrophic impact our league performance this season will have on our finances, this season's league performance will likely cost us circa £30 million. Which is a new player.

I'm just not convinced a gray Sarr cm 2 is the right call. But it's difficult to know as we have seen so little of gray there.

Would have gone gray and Bentancur to give him a more solid partner, but rotation will be needed.

IF we can win the Europa, then we will have CL next season, and more income.

No Europe means we will probably need to trim the squad.

I'm happy if we are putting everything into the Europa league now, if we can give the youngsters more game time. If they can step up, we might not need to buy as many players, and they can step up to take more game time next year

One thing is fans saying we should bin the league, another if our players actually will. I sure hope they won’t, and don’t think they will. I hope our recent euro success can spur us on.
