Its not his mother tongue but the statement from RDZ sounds like he is at one moment defending him to then not. I think all would be better if nothing was said now TBH. Just sounds increasing like a cluster

"I've always made it clear, at every opportunity, that any move of mine to another place would also have to be good for the club. If it wasn't, I would never accept it... just like I didn't accept it when everything here was falling apart and they needed me. I stayed and gave my life. So, I hope they treat my situation with the same respect that I've always had for the Spurs and for all the people who worked with me during this period. Just don't try to decide for me."
No, I remember that bit tooCheers. I could be misremembering (and should probably do my own research) but I'm sure there was a parting line about being willing to honour his contract and be there for the club. I appreciate that's not a grand gesture, it's the basic requirement and he, like all other top flight footballers are paid enough to give their absolute best but the whole thing is a mystery.
Are people upset that he described an unspecified time as things falling apart at the club? I'm struggling to see how the above statement is that controversial...No doubt the Everton move would've been better than potentially sitting out the 1st half of the season doing fudge all, if it pans out that way. The one thing you always got with Richy was a never say die attitude, no lost causes and always wanting to win, this idea he's a bad egg and has used up the supposed good will of the fans seems like copium to folk who want to believe RDZ is doing all of the right things. This is a messy one as discussed with Richy being good enough to start the 1st game and be given the number 9 shirt.
I'd say a couple of wins will be a tonic for where we're at to move on from this, but even just a goal would be a good start.
