Finney Is Back

If we sign Marmoush then I don’t see space (or need) for Kroupi.I would rather we not sign Gakpo, but instead save the money for Kroupi

I see Mateta nothing more than low hanging fruit. He is an ordinary striker and I hope we do not touch him with a barge poll. Would rather have Gakpo.I absolutely hope that we go in hard for Gakpo still...we need a big physical player upfront, so either him or throw the dice on go for Mateta. Otherwise we are going to suffer at set-pieces big time (people forget how great Romero was in the air and in the box - either one!)...
Regarding Gakpo, I think it obviously comes down to them and incomings, but equally, if the player has stressed he wants out, that can cause a manager to sell him. Let's see. I agree it feels unlikely given context, however there's still a chance, and I think he'd be good for us.
Two false 9s in tandem can work. Baggio and Del Piero for a while for Italy as one exampleIf we sign Marmoush then I don’t see space (or need) for Kroupi.
It's good that you found a recent example to demonstrateTwo false 9s in tandem can work. Baggio and Del Piero for a while for Italy as one example
So all we need is a Baggio and a Del PieroTwo false 9s in tandem can work. Baggio and Del Piero for a while for Italy as one example
Apparently Baggio or Del PieroWho’s our back up if City get Gakpo?
We want Gakpo... desperately want Gakpo....we get two forwards off City....who do City want? GakpoWho’s our back up if City get Gakpo?
So, too brick for us (according to some fans) but ok for City?
Will be an interesting choice for him, he's not a starter for them
Iraola has said they need more wingers so I don’t expect them to sell Gakpo this summer. We want Gakpo... desperately want Gakpo....we get two forwards off City....who do City want? Gakpo...they just needed to shift some players first

Now we have Savinho and Marmoush, with Kudus apparently back soon, I don’t see the need for Gakpo anymore.
What we need mostly is a true #9 and I’d spend any money we had set aside for Gakpo on that position.
If the player was there in the market place, I totally agree. Is there one though?
I'm still thinking that we have one of the few true number nines around in Solanke. I genuinely think we need to focus our energies on getting him optimised. It's really hard for us fans to know how ready he is to become a weekly starter for Spurs again. He's had the toughest of years as a player.
I can't say I'm an expert on Marmoush and Savinho, but do believe the former can be moved around a few positions. He could play behind Solanke with Savinho and Kudus either side. That could be a really nice balance with the goals being shared around. Sav can switch from left to right as well as Kudus and Tel. I'm pretty certain Kudus could occupy 10 as well.
As you say though, where do we find that number 9 profile?
Osimhen is 'there in the market place'.If the player was there in the market place, I totally agree. Is there one though?

Valid points from you and Muttley.I don't think Solanke starts on any regular basis
Kinsky, Udogie, VDV, JVH, Porro, Fernandes, Tonali are all set in stone, first choice 11. Only variations might be Robertson for sides that sit back, Danso when we need more aerial/physical cover.
Right now in front of them looks like some mix of
- Maddison, Tel, Marmoush, Savinho (could be lineup next week-end)
- Deki, Savinho, Marmoush, Kudus (Kudus and Deki could swap between RW and 10 position)
Solanke to me will for chasing games, or games we plan to dominate so much we are comfortable basically playing 2 up front.
If you watch most of play over preseason, most of it is on the ground, not sure the "big #9" is really part of plan.
