One man’s ‘consistent top 2’ is another man’s choking, late season collapse multiple times.

He’s a good coach but not one of the best in my opinion. He’s been clearly backed to the hilt yet somehow has failed to resolve his CF issue properly. Despite having a great squad, easily the best in the league, he only managed to score 44 open play goals in 38 games. I would expect more.

They also scored a whooping 38% of their goals from set pieces. Nothing wrong with that really, as it’s a justified way of scoring but I personally don’t associate it with the great coaches

I think the main thing for me is when I look at their squad and the way they play, I don’t see a coach that getting the team to exceed the sum of it parts. I see a highly efficient team, effective in their own way, but somehow feel restricted. At times you see them hanging on against lesser teams an you can’t quite figure out why.

Came back…. Won again
Left and won titles again elsewhere
If arteta wins stuff like morinho is say he would in a discussion for best in the world managers ever

Most now think he is great

I’d need to see him do a lot more myself
It’s why when you compared him to mourinho I was fogged up what he achieved for comparison

But they did eventually win it, even if by default. Liverpool won it by default with Slot. The bottler tag was very relevant when they were finishing 2nd but I don’t think you can level that at him anymore. Klopp finished 2nd to City more than once. Michael Jordan didn’t win the NBA title every season, Giannis Antetokoumpo even highlighted that to a journalist who asked him if Milwaukee’s season was a failure because they didn’t win the NBA title.

He did win lots of titles but your comment was Arteta didn’t do anything special but in reality he played a similar brand of football to Mourinho. Doesn’t really matter how you win. Now that Pep and Klopp are gone, I don’t see any better coach in the PL currently except maybe Unai Emery. He’s at least got to be in the discussion for the top 5-10 if you put Luis Enrique as the current number 1 and then everyone else.

I’ll compare him with others when I’ve seen there teams
I think over half the teams this season seem to have been guys in charge
Mourinhos team attacked a lot more than artetas last season side imo by the way
If artwta wins several titles then his status goes up. Right now he is behind arne slot for me, who won a tile here but also in Holland for example.
But arteta has his squad favourites again and he needs to deliver on that
All the teams who would normally compete with him have new managers so no excuses

All fair points. Look I’m not saying he’s a bad coach or anything. I think he’s a good coach, a very good one in fact. So I’m not going to sit here and say you’re wrong because your points are just as valid as mine. Just disagree on the opinion that he’s one of the best in the world. He’s certainly on his way, just needs a few more trophies in his cabinet first I think.
