One man’s ‘consistent top 2’ is another man’s choking, late season collapse multiple times.
He’s a good coach but not one of the best in my opinion. He’s been clearly backed to the hilt yet somehow has failed to resolve his CF issue properly. Despite having a great squad, easily the best in the league, he only managed to score 44 open play goals in 38 games. I would expect more.
They also scored a whooping 38% of their goals from set pieces. Nothing wrong with that really, as it’s a justified way of scoring but I personally don’t associate it with the great coaches
I think the main thing for me is when I look at their squad and the way they play, I don’t see a coach that getting the team to exceed the sum of it parts. I see a highly efficient team, effective in their own way, but somehow feel restricted. At times you see them hanging on against lesser teams an you can’t quite figure out why.
