Cody Gakpo

Good player but appalling at tracking back, constantly gave his left back 2 players to deal with. That’s why he didn’t end up making it at the very top level.
Had the speed of Lamela/Kulu too with just a tad less skill.

A good player but ultimately fell just short of the level we were at back then.

Who do you lot realistically think we are going to get on the left wing? We are not signing any superstars as they wouldn’t want to step down so we are left with half decent players who are not playing as much as they want.
Gakpo is very decent for what we need. 15 goals a season from the wing, know what you are getting. Functional threat and keeps going and doing thr job asked

If people are turning their noses up at Gakpo then you will be complaining about whoever we sign this summer.

Hes a good player, and even with the best intent of the board we won't be signing any world beaters this season coming off of two seasons finishing 17th and no European football to offer. We need to first again establish ourselves as one of the top 6 teams which will be difficult enough to do next season, before getting ideas above our station in terms of talent we can attract....

I think both the above posts are bang on, however personally i would rather we gave players like Tel, Oderbert more chances to show what they can do as wingers rather then paying for Gakpo. Not sure what our transfer budget will be but i believe we should use what money we have elsewhere.

I like both of them for the future but we need some quality there now IMO. Odobert isn't going to be back for a little while yet and will take time to get back to where he was, and Tel has a way to go and I like the idea of him going to Bournemouth on loan.

I do think it's an area we need to strengthen but appreciate dependant on budget as to what we should go for....

As you say we do not know what budget we will have, i just think we need to strengten other areas before we buy yet another winger. I guess we shall have to wait and see.

Tel's our only LW and Kudus & Kulu our only RWs (Odobert wont play this calender year). So unless we're going to back Moore, we need one body in. Our attack is also by far the weakest part of our side

I rate Odobert highly and i think he is going to become a top player, its a shame he got injured when he did because he was looking a real threat.

Kulu should be no where near the right wing he should play centrally or not at all. I think because he has been out so long people forget how frustrating he was. Unless we play City every week he shouldn’t play on the wing.

I agree generally. But as de Zerbi's 4-2-3-1 is similar to Poch's, our wings will probably be fairly narrow, and one in particular might do the Eriksen narrow right role (if we play a high presser like Bergvall or Sarr through the centre as more of an Alli)
