Andy Robertson

Forgot about Hutton, was about to pull out the Garry Brady trivia lol. I think we had 5 in total: Garry Brady/John Hendry/Jimmy Robertson/Steve Archibald and of course Alan Hutton.

At least thats all I can think of, probably more from earlier.
Gordon Durie was Paisley...pretty much Glasgow.

(Don't come at me if that's offensive...I have no clue on Scottish tribalism)

I’d be very surprised if Robertson joined us being happy as second choice. He will absolutely push Udogie for a starting spot.
Yeah I know the spirit is always willing, but the flesh does it's own thing after 30.

I keep thinking about Davies and how he was lauded for hard work and leadership....but his performance has been sub par and coincided with our long decline from the poch days. I know it's more factors at work, but fail to find evidence of his fabled contributions on the pitch. Context is a regular CL playing squad of course.

Fair points but even if Robertson is in decline, he is starting from a higher point than Davies did.

Udogie has needed real competition for a while now imo. I believe he still has an extra gear or two left, but has been allowed to coast a bit bc of no one challenging him (and injuries). And there’s not many teachers to have at that position to learn about end product from than Robertson.

Or is he starting from a higher point? I played golf with a Pool fan yesterday. He said Robbo has been pretty poor defensively in the last couple of seasons. He said, like Trent, he was never a great defender but they always had the midfielders like Fabinho, Hendo and Milner that had an eye on the full-back areas as both had license to bomb forward. Now that Robbo has had to play more as an orthodox full-back, he's actually shown some weaknesses in a Pool shirt. Saying that, I never felt Davies was a great defensive full-back when he had runners coming at him anyway.

I guess we will find out at some point.

For me Robertson was not a priority. Can see he brings a winning mentality but likely his best days are long behind him. Won't get excited until we address our priority areas though, forwards and deep lying passing midfielder.

There is a rumour on the grapevine that Davies will be given a new 1 year extension. I am just not convinced we need both Robertson and Davies.
