He's the first manager since Poch that gets us, that wants to be a Tottenham manager and can see the clubs potential.
Let's hope the club realise how important and rare that is.

This this and this again. The Board needs to buy the kind of players which De Zerbi needs: players who provide magic and sparkle. No more young hopefulls for a while, just two or three really transformative stars in midfield and attack.
 
Agree with have plenty of potential with Gray, Bergvall, Vuskovic, Tel, Souza, Taki, Yang, Moore, Lankshear, Olusesi, Rowswell, Williams-Barnett, Byfield, Thompson without Devine, Donley, Phillip's and Irow
If we don't think they have what it takes we should release or sell them.
Young players will always make mistakes and their lack of experience and physicality makes it hard for them to get a chance. Our injury problems made it very difficult to give them this opportunity this season as we never had a strong enough team to help them.

Gallagher is, fundamentally, a pressing machine. First touch of a concrete wall, but he has about twenty sets of lungs and keeps the team pressing super-high. Everything about de Zerbi's tactics indicates this is what he wants from his side. I suspect we'll see Gallagher a lot more than most think.

With Palhinha, yes he won't play much (at least I hope so). But de Zerbi loves his mentality, and given how much of a Poch-esque 'emotions' man he is, I think that gets him over the line to be our stopgap when we need to hold a lead, etc.

I agree that both are good and very useful options. I do also think we probably also need to improve our ball playing quality in midfield. Or we hope that De Zerbi can be the one to help Gray and/or Bergvall make that next step up in the upcoming season?Bissouma will be leaving I assume, but even so with no Europe I think it has to be one more out if we're bringing another (quality ball playing) midfielder in. Gallagher has only just arrived so between Palhinha, Sarr or one of the youngsters (Bergvall or Gray) to leave if we bring someone in imo. Bentancur for me showed (again) just how important he is in the run in and imo shouldn't be one to be let go.

I do think De Zerbi can do really useful things with Bergvall and Gray given a full preseason and a bit of time mind. Perhaps another ball playing midfielder won't be a priority? Just think the lack of balance in midfield has been a real source of problems for a while now.

Should be a focus on both first team ready players and on younger players with a lot of potential imo. But where the majority of the budged should be spent for sure is on players that improve the first team immediately.

“First level of players” are what he referred to in the post-match press conference when speaking about what we need to bring in. So I don’t think he’ll put up with being fobbed off with anyone not ready to start and improve us from day 1.

I just hope this isn't the pinnacle of your time with us....at least you've had a crash course in who ca/cannot trusted going forwards rather than in the latter stages of the summer
