Warning - don't listen to the latest View from the Lane podcast. In Danny's absence it is hosted by someone called Kate Mason and it features James Maw, Jack P-B and Dan Kilpatrick supporting the agenda of feminist and alphabet activist groups. DK in particular shows himself to be fully in line with the "guilty until proved innocent if it supports our agenda" phalanx. He talks about De Zerbi being a divisive figure and the last thing the supporter base needs as if half the fanbase support these activist groups when I bet they are a tiny minority - they just make a lot of noise and have a prominent but aesthetically tasteless flag which the club are soft enough to display.

True English is not his first language. But if I'm being cynical I would say that it did appear to be good enough to defend the player but poor when condemning the action. I think it reflected more where his emphasis was on the matter. That's what is troubling his detractors.

It was a truly dreadful episode. I didn’t make it to the end. It’s rapidly spiralling towards being unlistenable since Danny Kelly had to step back for his treatment (hope that is going well for him. Get well soon, Danny!).

Dan Kilpatrick is like a good vibe black hole; no idea why he is on the show.

The CPS decided the case was not viable after key witnesses (mainly his partner) would not testify. Pretty impossible to bring a case in those circumstances but that does not mean it did not happen.
Is it any wonder there is such a low success rate in prosecuting sexual assault and domestic violences cases when men are happy to take such statements at face value?
I know what I heard and I know what I saw.

I don't hold RDZ responsible for any of what happened and I don't believe he condones it. But I stand by what I said that his choice of words was poor at best. You can think what you want.

CPS said new material had come to light, not just that witnesses had withdrawn. You don't know who those witnesses were. In fact, you don't even know whether his partner ever accused him of anything when interviewed by the police or supported the investigation from the get-go. The police initiated the investigation after an account that appeared to be run by his partner posted audio and video footage and deleted them soon afterwards. His partner did not engage with the Man Utd investigation but her mother did and according to the press agreed with the investigation's findings and supported the public announcement. Some have suggested that is because the family were given hush money by Greenwood, but that is wild speculation.

I don't think he'll enjoy working with Vicario either. Another worry would be that, much like Tudor's, his system relies (from the little I've seen) on players moving out of position to exploit the space and create overloads and others covering. I kind of remember his teams to be pressing quite aggressively too, which our players won't be able to do if their fitness levels are as poor as we suspect.

It hasn't worked at all with Tudor. Hopefully, they'll do better this time...

They are never happy and always have something to moan about. They are a joke and should be ignored.
 
The more I read and think about it from a football perspective, the more I'm excited by his appointment.

The Spurs PR department should be lobbing a tennis ball of a question for him to hit out of the park and address the issues. It's an easy solve..."I should have chosen my words more carefully. I will always support my players, but I take domestic violence and violence against women seriously, and will be making a donation to X local charity."

Get things squared away there, and we can hopefully all move on in support of the club.

I'd give a job as a PR manager at the club but on a slightly less enthusiastic note, De Zerbi doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who makes public apologies (or private ones, for that matter)...

That said, he could definitely make a donation, considering the amount of money he squeezed out of the club.

Knowing our luck he’d probably double down on his comments and announce that he’s targeting Greenwood as his first summer signing.

That is factually inaccurate. Victimless prosecutions can be pursued by the CPS and are a vital tool in these cases as it is common for victims to either 1) not support a criminal investigation at all 2) not support a prosecution or be willing to give evidence. We do not know what witness evidence was given to the police and therefore what "witnesses" (plural) they were referring to as having withdrawn. We do not know what "new material" that came to light also factored in to CPS dropping the charges. We know very little. We don't know who is actually involved in the audio, or the context behind the audio. Nor the images and videos.

If it wasn't him in the audio then there would have been zero ground for him to leave UNITED and all of this would be a mute point, with Greenwood proving it wasn't and continuing his career in the UK as the victim of a smear campaign. I suspect given that he apologised and underwent the move abroad after him and his family met United that it as him and at the very least sounding like a bully and sexual predator, all parties felt best he leaves

How many managers last more than two seasons these days?

He is what he is, we know that. His football philosophy and style are what we say we want to see on the pitch. He has PL experience and a good track record of developing young players. He will light the fire under this squad which the majority of us believe is what is needed.

Since when have we, our most other teams in professional football for that matter, had a long term vision which they have successfully stuck with? Sure there are a few, Brighton for example, but they are the minority and even that doesn’t guarantee success.

Let’s get back to playing attractive, entertaining football first before we start worrying about the 27/28 season and onwards.
