Transfer thread

Wahoooooooooooo another one for the future who we will end up loaning to a League Two team in 2 years and then selling for 45p
Some people are never satisfied. I’ve played championship manager enough through the years to know when a regen player comes about. They don’t have the stats initially but they go on to be just as good as the original. He is obviously the second coming of Gordon Durie

Didn’t we also sign the next Irish talented striker this month, Melia or something. Plenty of kids to go upfront, or more likely, rot in the reserves

Scarlett, Lankshear, Melia, Feeney, Boast, Irow(?). Hopefully one of them is worthy of squad place long term

It’s a tough one and I can see both sides.

Do we sign short term players that we may not need when current players return. And then we’ve used our funds that could have been held for summer and spent on ‘better’ targets.

Squad is going to be bloated as it is next season with likely no Europe.

The only thing I don’t like is the selling of Johnson with no back up ready. We’re told clubs don’t sell in the January window unless they have a replacement sorted - but we did.

Whoever is at fault (or just bad luck) it really is a poor window.

Happy with Johnson out for a fee and Gallagher in.

But the squad is still short of quality in key areas.

Would take Sterling on a short term deal now.

Not shocked by the end of the window TBH.

Spurs fans are so used to a high volume of signings that they lose their brick when no transfers happen on a day like today.

Unless we were going to get an Adam Wharton level player, I wasn't so bothered. Akliouche was an interesting link and perhaps we've done some groundwork for a summer move.

I'm genuinely not worried about Johnson leaving either. We took a deal when it was there. Whose to say we would have got an equivalent deal in the summer.

I think we are short but im not shocked

How can you lose your sh1t when you know your club well enough to know it was likely to be a lean window. Not saying I know the club better than anyone, but you would have had to been mad to think it might be more than it was, based on zero.

Im upset, but I cant act shocked, who can honestly hand on heart say they are shocked

I do feel the injuries may have impacted our funds, Dragon/Tel looked like they would have been shifted out on loan/sold which would have generated money to spend.

We can never know what's going on behind the scenes, but I don't think the board is capable of doing what needs to be done investment and spend wise in the long term, Wolves seem to be selling players, would have been good to test the waters with a big bid for Gomes.

As it stands, staying in the league is our number one target, after this week I'm more positive than after the West Ham, but it ls not a completely unrealistic prospect for us to go down.

If none of our 1 or 2 options in each position was available/gettable then loans with an option is what we needed if short of numbers (ie no commitment).

I assume Gallagher was the former.

Not really too bothered about any of it tbh.

The league is highly likely to be a 9-15th place finish....so a write off this season and the CL is on the back burner for 5 weeks...so I'm sure we'll have a healthier squad to choose from by then.

As long as we see some progress in team dynamics in the league it'll feel we are building something.

Wouldnt hold ya breath.

So are just ignoring the first team now. And planning for 5yrs time
By which time we could be in the championship??!
Absolute jokers. Holes still not fixed and got rid of more.....
