Andy Robertson

There is a world where he makes sense, cover for Udogie, lots of experience, etc.

There is a world where he is a missing piece for even more awful football, we will see

There is also a world where Spurs are going to be accused of buying quantity over quality again.

I dream of a January window where we only buy one player and their name is Andersen, Wharton or Rogers.

He was brilliant in that first season. Exactly what we needed at the time as well.

I went to Donetsk in 2012 for the Euro's. What tended to happen with the older Parker was that he came out the blocks at the start of the season and was all action. In the second half of the season he was way more reserved and couldn't do much apart from doing his famous pirouettes in the centre circle. By the time I saw him him in Donetsk in the summer of 2012 he looked like the fatigue had really set in. He then had his summer rest and got going again in the 12/13 season but faded badly after Xmas. We had a great start to that season from memory.

I really wanted the guy when he left Charlton. I'd have loved to have seen him have a long career with us. I didn't care so much for the older version after he had rejected us multiple times and always taken the money. Don't blame him I guess. It's a short career.

Our hit rate in older buys is not too bad, only one real stinker there.

I think it depends how you look at it. They're mostly all squad fillers and there was always that bad taste left because we didn't buy higher quality. When I look through that list I see Friedel, Naybet, Gallas, Parker and Davids that were 1st team regulars for a short period of our history.

We've often had our squad cluttered with these types of players blocking a path for a younger squad player.

Andy Robertson would become our ~27th oldest transfer. Here's the list of transfers aged 30+ over the last 20 or so years.

The # column indicates where they sit on the list by age. A prize for anyone who can guess #1

Damn. I cannot remember Jimmy Walker for the life of me. No recollection of this guy, and I’m usually quite rainman-oriented when it comes to these things. Weird.

One of my best mates was a Walsall fan. I knew about Jimmy way before the Spurs tenure. My mate never stopped banging on about him.

Yep, a very random one. Joined as 3rd choice goalkeeper. I think I remember hearing Peter Crouch talk about him on his podcast a couple of years ago, saying he was one of the best characters in the dressing room and although no one knew about him he was one of the most important people in the squad that season (2009/10, when we beat Emirates Marketing Project to 4th)

Wasn’t Jimmy Walker involved in coaching here too?

As an aside, I rented a house off of him for a year, it was a nice place but I kept getting all of his parking fines and chase letters through the post.
