*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur FC v Aston Villa ***

We need a deeper passer than either Xavi or Maddison or Kulu. You're forgetting how Maddison performed when presented with the same issues, a reminder he was poor also. The problem is due to our lack of a passing 8, the ball only ever gets the 10 after a rather laboured process by which point the opposition are both set for whatever happens next and our player in possession has reduced options in terms of whom they pass to and when.

As ever, our best players are those injured or on the bench. 😃

We definitely need to be engineering in Bergvall or Gray alongside one of Pahlinha or Bentancur much more.

I'd also maybe switch back to Sarr ACM and Xavi LW for the short term, at least while our attacking players find their feet a bit more

Said yesterday that he's performance reminded me of the ones Maddison serves up often. Too high up the pitch and taking up poor positions. Whoever plays there needs to start coming and finding the ball instead of hoping it gets to them. Even someone in there who could pass it over 10 yards but vertically would change how we attack. Just got nothing through the middle at the moment, and can't play off the front man either cause the ones we have are either drifting out wide or falling over.

Bergvall isn't really a passer, people seem to have a belief as to what kind of player they think or want him to be rather than what they can actually see with their eyes. He drives with the ball, he's not a passer so far. I don't think he solves any issues, I'd probably argue for Sarr there. He's shown a bit more range of passing so far than Bergvall.

With regards to Simons/Maddison/Kulu in the 10, it can work but as I said before we actually need some passing quality in the deeper positions to get the ball to them at opportune times and in good spaces. If we are expecting this player to essentially create, space, movement and the play from nothing whilst lacking a competent striker and LWF to play off then prepare to be disappointed.

When you see all the stats about how CB's now spend the most time on the ball when 10 years again back it was midfielders it's no surprise that the is a lack of metronomes in the game. It's by design but hopefully things will change again go back to producing midfielders who get on the ball.

From Kane and Son to…. Nothing we need Dom back asap just to hold the ball up and feed in players. I don’t know where our goals are coming from this season
If you think he's going to make a bit of difference your living in cloud coukoo land. He missed a sitter in the Euro final he should have put away..what we desperately needed... it but we hung on. our best striker is Brenden when he gets a chance but hes knowhere near in the same league as Son or Kane let alone Dominique! So if you think of it were back where we were last season without Son. Trying to be a bit positive...we have some decent young players..the midfield looks stronger but with the large squad of players we have it will allways be the same IMO.
If your the manager, you may well think to your self ...well I have to play these other guys who are a bit second rate in the squad. There lies some of the problems. You need a smaller squad of players that are exceptional that can play regular football. Anyway..modern football is ruining the game IMO...Anyway I,m getting too old for all of this ..so ..I'm out..er here!

I don't think it's specifically the club, but look at how the FA, UEFA, Sky etc treat fans. You need Sky, BT and Amazon to watch your teams games for example. The fact there isn't team packages available to buy is a joke. You get fixtures moved that benefits nobody but the broadcasters. Competitions and rules are changed to make games more of a spectacle.
There's things like the constant attempt to Americanise the game with half time shows etc... It all adds to the divide.

Blame virgin and the eu for not being able to buy football in one package. We used to. Virgin then took sky to the european court who ruled that sky had a monopoly. So they had to break it up into smaller packages to sell.

He isn't a great passer (yet at least), but he is good at progressing the ball with those carriers and dribbles. He's also one to take up more ambitious positions to receive the ball in between the lines instead of just taking up safe positions to shuffle the ball on to someone else.

Imo offers significantly more than Sarr in terms of ball progression and press resistance. Sarr has a good range of passing, but needs space to execute it meaning for the kinds of situations we struggle in it imo has little impact.

So far Frank seems like he doesn't trust Bergvall in roles other than as a 10 though.

It was all free on terrestrial before Sky. The Big Match used to be on ITV on sunday afternoons.

Its also why 90s kids got so into Football Italia, because Channel 4 swung straight in and filled the void of live games being available to a mass audience

I agree
But that’s why the football is so bad
It’s NO risks

I’m not saying Madders is perfect but he started 31 competitive games last season and managed 22 goal involvements….with no better players behind him in the 8. It doesn’t need overthinking.
