Daniel Levy - Former Chairman

Would we have had such a big restructure with in the club just before looking to sell?

Seems strange to me, but who knows.

If ENIC were going to sell, they could just sell. I’m not sure why they would appoint Vinai if they were going to sell imminently. It feels to me like they want to keep it rolling, but in a new phase.

Charrington in for Levy without the VV appointment, I would say it’s likely that we sell. As it is though, I think it’s just a new era and we say thank you Daniel for all that he did.

I haven’t read the posts in the thread, but isn’t it strange that Levy is stepping down with immediate effect? Nothing happened during the last match; the only thing I noticed was that Levy left his seat a bit early at halftime. It doesn’t feel like a departure made with love, but more like a signal that he doesn’t want to be part of something. To me, it seems like Enic has decided to sell the club, and he’s stepping down before becouse he disagrees with the decision.

Bit of a stretch. Vinny and charrington came in. Donna stepped down.
Think this has been the plan for a good while.

If the club was being sold he'd still have a say.

Has he stepped down as chairman of enic aswell?

I expect he was to support through the transfer window before going. New coach so I expect they thought it might be hectic, and Levy is one of the most experienced individuals out there. Selling also is a possibility, but the timing and the end of the window also ties together quite nicely

Reports going round (unverified I know) are that he nor the Lewis family have plans to sell up their share of the club. Only explanation is that he was out voted told to stand down from the board.

All a bit ‘Succession’

Sami Mokbel and the Beeb reporting that he was forced out - seem like it wasn't his choice, Vivienne and Charlie Lewis made the call along with Joe Lewis's grandson, Nick Beucher. Apparently due to 'a lack of on-pitch success'.

I'm a big fan of what Levy did for us. Probably because, like Levy, I am an 'extremely long term vision' type of person.

It is hard to describe, but for example I would see VALUE in making some big expensive change in my house or garden and spend thousands and thousands on it because it would deliver pleasure back over the very long term. But I would not generally spend a lot LESS on short term items because the value goes and then I regret it afterwards. We are all built different.

For a moment, imagine if Leeds and Cheatski had not cheated back when Ken Bates was involved. Imagine each year that Leeds and Cheatski were still a bit brick and imagine that Spurs finished above them. Imagine all the Champions Leagues we would have qualified for; the money we would have gained and the players we could have signed with that increased revenue. Imagine also the trophies where Cheatski beat us in the Semis or the Final. That is why it is not fair to say "but what trophies did Levy deliver", because it was an unfair situation.

I was thinking the other day that it is the perfect time for him to step away.
Levy is already involved in higher level things but my mind is completely blanking on the actual titles e.g. he is the well respected Head/Chair of the Premier clubs owners (or however it is phrased) and involved in European goings on too.
Other bigwigs like David Dein, Peter Scudamore, Obscene Wanger went on to have roles at UEFA and the Premier League and I can imagine Levy doing similar.

In fact, because I have a similar mindset and approach to Levy, perhaps I have some insight here. If I was him I would dedicate my time to taking down the cheats, reinforcing PSR rules, installing 'fit and proper person' rules, and generally ensuring Spurs can benefit from all the prudent financial decisions he made (and stop Cheatski / BlueCo / CityGroup nonsense).

Reeks of a takeover, or at least some sort of investment to me.

Levy has always done things on his terms and I think he left before he was forced to leave.

Amanda Staverly has been in and around the club including being at games for around 6-7 months. Let's not forget that she was the one who got the Saudi Sportswashing Machine takeover done.

There's been Qataris buy out rumours for around 12 months
