They play a back 3
He has been playing LCB unless they move to a 4 mid game
But he goes LB in a back 4, not CB?

Yes
But they play a 3
Ok, thanks.
I'm just thinking of it in the context of where he'd end up in a more standard system, now the three CBs fad seems on the wane most places.
They definitely played 4 at the back yesterday, with Hincapie as LB. Looked like they sometimes did what City does, and pushed one of the defenders into midfield when they attacked, leaving 3 behind, with Hincapie again the one to the left.Yes

Could work in a wonky back 4, say:They definitely played 4 at the back yesterday, with Hincapie as LB. Looked like they sometimes did what City does, and pushed one of the defenders into midfield when they attacked, leaving 3 behind, with Hincapie again the one to the left.
Was more an observation on how we’ve been doing business recently and Romano’s apparent lack of credibility at the minute. I’m not sure he’s needed eitherWhy? He is not needed, we have Dragusin and Danso as back up.
Left footed, natural left sided CB. Has also played quite a bit as a left back. And is really highly rated. Why? He is not needed, we have Dragusin and Danso as back up.

May not be our biggest priority, but a hybrid LB/CB player is a player we've needed for some time. Essentially a Ben Davies upgrade while also making us less reliable on VDV going into a season with a bunch of games.
If he's quality (I think he is) and capable of playing well both as a LB and CB (I think he can) it's a signing that makes all kinds of sense.
I think we are one quality player short defensively. If we can get in someone of his quality then we have very good backup in all defensive positions as VDV can play LB aswell as Spence and Udogie and Spence can of course also play RB.Left footed, natural left sided CB. THis is bang on the money.A strong option in a back 3 and a first backup if VDV needs a rest. Let's say Porro picks up a knock and Spence is needed for a couple of games at RB, suddenly no genuine LB cover becomes a problem when we've got two big games a week. Frank spoke about wanting to be competitive across all fronts..
It's also future planning for Davies who can do a job in these positions, but realistically isn't going to be around much longer (not withstanding a potential coaching / staff involvement in the future). We want left footed players on that side of the pitch and this keeps us on the right shaped pegs for important games - I think a signing like this is to keep the consistent quality across the first XI that will have games thick and fast, plus inevitable flimflam with injuries because it's Spurs.
