I genuinely think they'll just run and if they win say "I've won the election - it's undemocratic to stop me being President".
So you'll have democracy Vs constitution..... opening up space to change the constitution without senate sign off

Trump has cult of personality. Vance is not popular at all, which is small comfort I suppose as I'm not sure that matters much when elections are not free and fair, and they won't be. If Vance got in, they would have Thiel pulling the strings instead of Musk. What a mess.

I agree nothing directly will come of it, but I don't think that is the whole picture. I would say that it is an act of obstruction, albeit a small one, that may inspire watchers to act or other dems into a semblance of opposition. 500k are watching this speech, which is remarkable really.

At the moment there are a handful of Democrats, mostly progressives, who are standing up and shouting at rallies and town halls. The rest are cowering under the covers while their country becomes more authoritarian by the day. Hopefully Booker jolts some of the others into life.

That's true. Could be the kick in the ass the democrats need; that and the success/relative success in last night's elections. They really need to pull themselves together.
