Cristian Romero

Maybe for part of his rehabilitation he spent time back in Argentina (with permission of course, plus he gets some family time) under the care of the national team physio's whom I imagine liaise with the physio's back at the club.

Post match Sunday he shows his public thanks for their (Argentinian physio's)input for getting him back on the pitch. But he shows no public thanks to our staff for their part in helping? Why?

It might just be that, compared to the Argentina physio's 7,000 miles away, he gets to see our guys every single day, he could tweet and say thanks or he can just say thanks in person, because he sees them every bloody day.

Who was the intervew with? If it was argentinian reporters might explain it.

Anyway it's drama over nothing as usual. He'll be a spurs player till his contract runs out or someone offers enough that we'll accept. If he wants to play for argentina or anyone else he'll have to do well for us first.

after that the team adjusted to be more defensive (instinctively) and there was a huge gap between midfield and attack - we found it difficult to string passes together because the players were so far apart

C an not disagree with that at all, i have said all season that our M/F is our weakest part of the team and the first signing we should make in the summer is a DM. Player IMO

Don't think there was any interview...it was just a tweet?

But I only know what's been posted in this thread.

He's been brutal since his return. Some leeway for being rusty, but his decision making and chasing the ball when there's no need to has nothing to do with being rusty. Always get the impression that he thinks hes better than he is and is too good for us. Would be near the top of my list to replace in the summer, especially if a decent offer came in.

He does need leeway for his injury, and some of his passing into midfield to beat the press was exceptional. He is a much better player with vdv but yea his positioning, which was never fantastic anyways, needs work

Thought he was a lot better today. But after his last performance, wasn't a difficult achievement.

Hopefully he can keep playing 90mins and we get VDV up there as well in the next couple of games.

Agreed. He's very nonchalant and almost arrogant in his play. Almost on Kyle Walker levels of brainfarting. He's got a lot of excellent contributions during a game, but seems to always have a few huge mistakes in him as well. Not very comforting to have a Cb like that. I think we should sell him in the summer if anyone wants him. Think we will as well.

His arrogance far exceeds his ability. Which is why I want to sell him.

I was in the north stand today and had a great view of him as were row 12
Horrendous decision making multiple times
He goes down on his man like Bonnie Blue but at least she knows when she goes down she is getting fudged
And him walking away from the CF and leaving 2 men with porro so exactly when he did earlier in the session when he wasn’t rusty
Bad decisions

I back Romero and think he will find his feet again with his performances. He’s not been his best but yesterday was his first full match since returning from injury. He needs time at the moment and patience. His first full 90 minutes in 4 months, his previous 90 minutes having been against Ipswich on November 10th.

Players don’t instantly return and go to best level performances. But he did make a significant difference defensively and this will only continue to improve as he gets more game time.

I think some people find a way to criticise him due to their personal narrative that Romero wants to leave. We don’t know this, it’s assumed for whatever reason by some to be true and there seems little basis for this. I’m sure people have their reasons for believing as they do but at least some assumption is included there. I think we back him fully as he is our player. I would say he is helping us the best that he can but I’m sure some would label that as an assumption so I won’t go there.

I back him and think he can be one of the best centre backs on his day and we need to help him to find his day more often and hopefully to further improve.

This is a really fair post, frankly one I'll read again and take onboard.
