Cristian Romero

It's a coincidence of scheduling. If there had been any international matches scheduled in the last 3 months he would have missed those too and his availability % for Argentina would have dropped significantly considering the small number of games they actually play. It's just that at the same time that he is returning to the team, the international matches are due to happen.
Yeah that is the fifteen games he missed.

Hard to tell who was/is fitter tbh. Remember VDV played half the time yesterday than Romero did. It might have been the case that Romero would have looked 'fitter' if he had played half the time instead.

That said, i did think Danso and VDV looked more balanced once the substitute took place but that might eb to do with the stage of the game etc

I hope Dando keeps his place on Thursday, whoever is beside him.

VDV was definitely sharper.
Came on and could pass a ball for a start.

Hopefully we reverse the game time on Thursday to ease them both back in and let them get more game time under their belt. Both need it.

I didn't watch the match but VDV got completely flumoxed for the 2nd goal. I don't know maybe the rest of his performance was good? But hid play for that goal was kind brick tbh.
VDV just isnt that great a defender - his speed means he can get himself out of certain holes and looks great on the ball but as a defender he really isn't all that. Goes without saying he's at an age where he can still improve in this area....

Exactly how Walker started, look how far he went

Indeed. But he is a CB and which means he usually faces different challenges to a full back who is often up against a speedy winger. In the modern game your full back doesn't necessarily have to be a great defender....

23, proven he can hang at this level, his speed will always give him that little advantage. Not really worried about him, outside of a couple of elite defenders, the unit is the important thing and that's where we struggle

He thanked the physios at the Argentine national team for getting him playing again.

Not a word on the Spurs medical team, which I suspect speaks volumes on their competence. Even Richarlison (iirc) has gone back to Brazil to seek treatment for his injury.
I’d say it speaks volumes for his lack of understand of who pays his wages
Was very odd
But then he is an enigma
Talented but stupid
Brilliant but also bad

my point was that Ange gets these things wrong often.. the vdv injury scare probably affected his assessment, but romero was so off pace that he could have easily gotten another injury

I think Romero is being judged harshly in his come back, i admit the first 15 mins he was all over the place but after that
he settled down and got better as the game progressed. Been out a long time and you could see that he struggled at first.
after that the team adjusted to be more defensive (instinctively) and there was a huge gap between midfield and attack - we found it difficult to string passes together because the players were so far apart
