Something to keep an eye on, ASKAP J1839-0756

Behaving like a pulsar except its cycle is 6.5 hours, previously this was thought impossible as in a min is the most it could be.
Various brains have suggested it may be a magnetar, except its not giving off the correct energy waves. Others have said white dwarf, but from my understanding its too small.

This could literally mean rewriting the book on Pulsars, or it could be something new. :)

This is good

No planet will suit us. We have evolved for billions of years on earth and have adapted to only a small amount of tolerable surface habitats.

Mars will have subterranean realms though, maybe even with standing water. Effectively Mars cooled rapidly (as did Mercury) leaving vast cracks and maybe labyrinths in the crust - it seems probable the seas that once existed drained into these voids and were just lost to outer space. There is also evidence of surface collapse around the volcanic provinces.

If they want to man a mission to Mars then good luck to them but yeah, hard to see to what end.

If you want to understand why Musk, Thiel and other techbro billionaires are pursing such nonsense you need to understand longtermism. They are zealots.
