Transfer Policy

We made money on him - that says enough about him being able to do a job. Go ask Stoke what they see in him, because it's enough for them to part with ?ú12m for.

Banging on about whether another "half decent" striker could've done the same is pure conjecture.

what Stoke see in 6ft 7in Peter Crouch?????????? hmmmmmmm i do wonder what that might be:-k

Ironcially, Crouch scores more with his feet than his head - but then, of course, you'd know that wouldn't you.

He's rattled in 13 goals for Stoke this season - I'd say they're more than happy with their investment. Knock Crouch as much as you want, but he's always delivered the goods; Liverpool, us and now on at Stoke. He's even done it at international level.

Not easy on the eye, no-one says he is - not even Peter himself. But knock his record and you make an ignorant ass of yourself.

We actually made money on him too. And yet you don't think that's good business? Weird. Would you rather we made a loss then?

biggest mistake ever letting this kid leave

not really, we had to take a loss on Palacios, another inspired Redknapp signing, so to have to take a hit on Crouch as well would have been too much for Danny boy to have to cope with

Redknapp's single biggest failure in my opinion during his hopefully soon coming to an end Spurs tenure. Made this point countless of times before

- Very little clear outlook during transfer windows - no clear targets, few media names thrown about, general flimflam and lies

- Mipoic short-terms vision in terms of squad cover and overall prospects

My only hope is Levy knew he's walk soon and kept the cheque-book closed for the next manager.

The fact we ended up weaker after January (in a CL challenging season, much like last year) says it all.

Redknapp said when he got the job that he has control of the transfers. If we cant sign the players on his list, then maybe they are unrealistic. I cant see why we have the whole summer to get players in and are still looking on deadline day if Redknapp is doing his job. The whole thing stinks of a lack of preparation by Rednapp and Levy in how to get our targets in time for preseason.

Yeah total control of who he buys and doesnt buy. But not control of negotiations. If Harry gives Levy three strikers to go negotiate for and Levy comes back a week before the window saying sorry I tried my best but theyre too expensive. What does Harry do? Give him another three names that may not be as good and waste a few million? no - Harry gets in a loan so that we dont spunk a few million on strikers we dont want.

I think Levy gets away with it a bit. He is the best chairman out there and runs our club perfectly but if you want a well run club then you gotta take the consequences i.e. long drawn out transfer sagas and constant gaps in our squad because we dont want to spunk millions against the wall.

It is pretty dire. You don't see other clubs at the top of the league loaning out potentially useful squad players in January. Nor do you see them buying a 30+ centre back who cannot get a game at a relegation struggling team.

We have needed a new striker for the last two seasons. I find it mystifying that Saudi Sportswashing Machine can find Cisse, WBA Odemwinge, Everton Jelavic etc. and we are scraping around taking on crocks and a City loanee. That said if we had signed Odemwinge for example, he would probably be getting a hard time due to our inflated sense of expectation.

This summer we will most likely need two strikers, two centre backs and probably two CB as well. Could be a defining summer for us.

Right. So, you don't give a toss about players who turn out to be brick - only those who turn out to be good? And Spurs are supposed to be able to find all the good ones, and no rubbish ones?

You might wanna reassess your expectations.

Oh dear. Ok I'll start again. When did we last go abroad and buy an unknown who turned out to be decent? We don't do it. Pav? Modric and VDV were well known already.

Saudi Sportswashing Machine showed bottle also by taking Ba something we could've done.

we took a big risk on Berbatov, it worked out, we did the same with Modric even when other clubs had a long look and said no thanks. He worked out.

we got burned with Pav, not badly, he had his moments, but didnt turn out to be what we needed. Yep we should take a few more risks with overseas signings

I do agree, he is a wheeler dealer who only buys for the short term, been the same wherever he has managed.

Yes, but I'm outlining to you why you should temper your frustrations as to with Saudi Sportswashing Machine landing on their feet with Cisse, for there are many who have gone before him who haven't been as successful. Good luck to Saudi Sportswashing Machine is what I say; I don't begrudge them their success one bit. But if it was THAT easy to find successful players, then every manager and football club would be doing it. The fact is, it isn't.

I thought we should've gone for Ba too, but then I'm not the medical staff. Ba has been successful and that won't surprise many at all, but there is also a substantial rumour that he has a signfiicant problem with his knees. Some clubs will be prepared to shoulder the risk, while others will not. Is it 'bottle' to do that? I don't know to be honest, perhaps more gambling than anything else.

Of course Levy plays a big part and would definately share the blame, but surely Redknapp should really fight to get players he wanted in like he did with Parker. Maybe we are wasting too much time on players we have no chance of getting and end up trying to patch up the squad instead.

Parker was a 5m risk. Levy accepted that risk and effectively the 'loss' once Parker is surplus to requirements.

Levy on the other hand wont risk 25m on a striker plus 5m wages a year. Thats the margins we are chatting about when we are chatting about top class strikers.

Yes yes yes there are Cisse's of this world but there are also Ruiz's of this world.

The players we need to get to maybe challenging for the top cost alot more than what we may well afford. I just think that we are assuming way too many things but one thing is for certain - I doubt Saha was on Harrys shopping list yet he ended up with that.

I remember when I was younger and my parents werent well off at the time. I wanted a pair of Nike trainers like all the other kids had. Instead of Nike I got a pair of fudgein Nicks - my parents could only afford a pair of Nicks. No matter how much I pleaded with the parents I didnt get the pair of Nikes.

Levy needs to sign a consistent striker.

Until we get one; We won't become consistent; When the team goes through a patch of playing **** then you need somebody who has 1 chance and scores; Not Adebayor who has the worst finishing skills in the world.

Darren Bent is consistent.
