The youth players/on-loan thread 2014-2015

Azzaoui equalised against the Czech Republic and then scored the winning penalty in the shoot out to send Belgium through.

Edwards was again the star man for England but unfortunately they were on the wrong end of a smash and grab by Russia, they now face Spain in a playoff to qualify for the u17 World Cup.

We've had an u19 squad in Holland taking part in a tournament and we're into the semi finals:

Spurs 1-0 Ajax Cape Town (Oduwa)
Spurs 1-1 Club Bruge (Oduwa)
Spurs 1-0 Fluminense (Onomah)
Spurs 3-3 AZ (Goddard, Onomah x2)

Good to see Onomah amongst the goals, if he can start delivering consistently in that area of the game then he could go on to become the complete midfielder.

We just beat Atletico Mineiro 1-0 (Winks) so we're into the final against Fluminense(who we already beat).

Eric Dier, Tom Carroll, Alex Pritchard and Harry Kane all called up to the provisional 27-man squad for the u21s European Championship, all should make the cut unless they pull out for some reason.

Azzaoui Missed a penalty in the semi final against France which led to Belgium's elimination from the tournament .

Yep, was so bad that the keeper(Zinedine Zidane's son) caught it. On a brighter note, Edwards scored his as England actually won a shootout, against Spain.

Sounds like Walker-Peters, Winks and Onomah will be travelling with the 1st team to Malaysia/Australia next week.

article about Nathan Byrne, now at Swindon............. one that got away???

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ormer-Tottenham-youngster-eyes-promotion.html

'I was a year older than Harry Kane and a year younger than Ryan Mason, and we were a really strong group at Spurs. For three years it felt like we were cleaning up pretty much all the trophies at that level.

'There were so many good players in that group – Andros Townsend, Steven Caulker, Tom Carroll who is doing well now. We had a very talented team.

'As I was getting older I went out on several loans, but it came to the last year of my time there and it seemed none of the younger lads were getting a chance.

'Tim Sherwood always talked about how we should get chances with the first team, and when he got the job he stuck to his word, and now those players are doing really well."

He's right though. Look at the list of players we have had come through in that time that are now playing in the Premier League and upper Championship. Adam Smith, Fredericks, Rose (arguably a Leeds prospect), Caulker, Carroll, Bentaleb, Kane, Townsend, Pritchard, Mason. There's a steady stream of decent players coming out of the academy.

Don't forget Charlie .. sorry, I mean Jake :D David Button's doing well in goal for Brentford too.

Byrne is a decent player but not one I fear will come back to haunt us or anything, there haven't been many players we've willingly let go or sold who've gone on to bigger and better things than Spurs. Luongo(also at Swindon) may end up in the Premier League, I think Sherwood might fancy him at Villa but we apparently have the option to re-sign him. There's no reason a few more names shouldn't be added to that list in the coming years, we have some very talented players coming through.

Yeah I noticed Button at Brentford. I left him and Livermore out because they are a bit older than the rest.

Onomah and Winks on the bench today. Hopefully we will see one or both of them get some minutes before the game is over.

No real surprises there, Khumalo is a bit of a running joke with Spurs fans as to how he's managed to stay so long but he does seem to help the kids coming through at u21 level. Ceballos refused to sign an extension for those wondering why he's gone.

Interesting...

I wonder if that is coming as a result of him getting indications that he will be involved next season and not see a loan move, or if it's just his private ambitions and what he's hoping for...

Barcelona are sniffing around Marcus Edwards, they've apparently identified him as the "jewel of Europe". He(and his parents) have already told Emirates Marketing Project they're not interested in moving but until he signs first year academy forms(like a number of his teammates already have) then he's pretty much fair game. I'm sure there's nothing to worry about but he would be the best signing we could make this summer, here's a video for those who maybe haven't seen much of him -
