The transfer thread

I don’t get the shade given to grealish
He has won everything in the game already
And he gets paid handsomely for it
And he is another who goes out of his way for fans. He goes above and beyond
Id take him here easily. Much better than any wingers we have apart from Yang who will win the balloon door award. That's the one where you balloon the ball over and can't hit a barndoor.

Man January windows are so lame nowadays aren't they? Not just us I mean overall, Last year the total spend in January was so low people were making fun of it. It's not like clubs are all clamouring to use it as a chance to make real changes anymore. Should just either scrap it or go back to the old way of having it open all season until March etc.

It's the society we live in, same mugs were slagging off Rooney and Kane.
I wanted Grealish a few years ago on here. Some were arguing for John Mcginn instead - no names mentioned. Grealish always had a high bar, if anything that’s reduced at City despite winning things.

I’d take him for sure.

But let’s be clear - Kane and Rooney were in a different parish. More jealousy = more hate.

Whats happened with Grealish is what is happening here with Udogie, the rawness is what made them exceptional talents but the rawness has been coached out of them. Obviously Grealish has won everything but he has still underachieved from a personal performance Level.

I thought McGinn would offered some bite and goals to our midfield.

I think you should be able to negotiate all year but only transact paperwork in 3 shortish windows. Most football clubs run their account from Jul to Jun. The window should be open at the and of the fiscal year and left open for a short period. Then again over quarter-ends for Q1 and Q2, but not Q3 as it is too close to the end of season. Too much corruption would happen there.

Something like
Jun 10 - Jul 15
Sep 25 - Oct 5
Dec 27 - Jan 10

You would see such a better outcome if it was setup this way in my opinion.

No you would disadvantage clubs in europe who have to put in their squads.

The only change i'd make is that the summer window shuts before the season starts. This would have to be europe wide. Then managers have settled squads. But can tweak or adjust it in jan if needs be. Jan should only be used in emergencies though. Injury crisis, massive falling out with a player etc...

He's always been a good and underrated player. Would have been useful bridging the gap between Alli and Kulu
McGinn has 22 goals in 227 premier league games.

It’s making my head hurt thinking about him as a stop gap to Deli and Deki - who were/are 1 goal in 3 or 4.

He’s a decent pro, puts it about and is a good passer. Thats it.

Yeah, but Lo Celso was about all we had in that period instead

I'd just have it 1/6 till 31/7, and that's it. The January window just rewards rich teams who are doing crap and brick the bed, like us and United.

He'd have missed a lot of games through bookings with his tackling if played for us.

There's nothing actually stopping clubs from negotiating between the windows. The really proactive clubs do but most seem to wait for the window to open before really starting to get players in.

No, all of that would need to change with it. You submit squads at the end of the short windows. This would need to be Europe wide. One country can't go alone. Every football club would need to have the same fiscal window, at least in Europe. Easily achieved. The principle is you can negotiate anytime so the recruitment teams have everything ready for Day 1 of a transfer window including all the paperwork which you know will go through OK because of the process.

It would need some thought about how inter-continental transfers happen admittedly but that is not impossible.

As you've probably guessed, I hate the tap dance of transfer windows. Give Levy 3 months and he'll take 2 months and 30 days. Give him a week and he'll take a week. It's just like in sales when all the orders come in week 13. You've trained the vendor and buyer into those bad behaviours.

Villa signed 2, Ipswich signed 2, can't think of others that teams have signed

Yeah, Probably just getting old but it used to be quite exciting back in the day. Now it just feels like only the dysfunctional teams are trying to do business lol

City have 3 transfers this window, £150m. All because they are 5th. We are 15th and nothing.
