The transfer thread

Richarlison missed the Copa America through the thigh injury he picked up at Everton. They've missed him massively. Here's the coach's confirmation:

“Richarlison has not been called up for the Copa America because of a new injury he has suffered. He is not available, he had a new injury and that is why he is not on the list.”

Ok fair enough, I didnt know he was injured to be fair. Doesn’t change my view that we need an upgrade on him.

Problem is there are only about 2 upgrades on the market at the moment - Isak and Osimhen. So we either pay up for one of those, or go midprice for someone similar calibre.

The only other option is to punt young, like with Gray e.g. Leonardo at Benfica. But perhaps that is already Veliz?

I don’t watch enough world football to know if that’s really the case, but there’s got to be more than 2 upgrades for Richarlison?

Every team at the Euros are struggling for CFs. Even the best teams - Spain and Germany - have been toiling with Morata and Havertz. France have been bemoaning the loss of Giroud. Ditto Brazil and others at the Copa. There's just a particular dearth at the moment

Tend to agree with that, to be honest i would love to get Isak but apart from him i do not see any real alternatives. Richarlson is better then some fans think [imo] and until we can find better i have no problem with him staying fit and getting a good run.

Im excited about Lankshear and Veliz too, but it just feels a year or two too early for either of them to start doing a Kane c.2014

We are in for Toney
I’ve heard it from a few sources
But being in… doesn’t mean we will buy
I don't want you to say who these sources are - and I assume you mean people you've actually spoken to rather than Twitter accounts you've read!
But when you say a few, do you mean two? Or five? Or more?
There's quite a difference.

Two
A few is two
One of them works for Peterborough, his old club
He literally said the biggest club after him is spurs.
The other guy is a scout I know who used to work at Villa but now works for wolves… still not sure why the my recruit this far away.

And not that means anything, but I’ve been away this weekend in normal and met a few Boro fans. One of them said exactly what id be told

I do appreciate its not his club anymore but I believe there may be a sell on for them

I do know a groundsman at Brentford but haven’t seen him in a while. He wouldn’t know much TBF

Saudi Sportswashing Machine aren't selling isak. They've cleared their psr.

Osimhen. If we had over £100m.

Gyorkeres maybe?

Giminez, nobody is sure.

Think rw is where we could improve. Sorry kulu.

Gyokeres is better than isak was at a similar stage
Isak was IMO a gamble that’s really paid off and that’s the kind of gamble we may have to take

My bad
Then Gyokeres would be buying a player who is reaching his peak years
Does look like arsenal are getting him though

You could say the same about Richarlison too. Plus Richarlison has 7 years EPL experience, compared to Gyokeres playing in Championship and Portugal.

I'm not saying it won't work out for him, but for me he's not worth that £50-60m outlay when he's likely a much of a muchness with what we already have.

Leonardo is the big talent forward wise in Portugal. And he's also only 21.

Leonardo is not a patch on any of these players… yet
Gyrokeres has scored goals everywhere
Both would cost the same money
Neither are what we seem to want to buy
I’d rather gamble on our own youngsters over Leonardo
If Arsenal do finally sign a real striker… I’d back them for the title

I don’t see the point on spunking money on a forward who isn’t top class. We have a perfectly good youngster waiting in the wings to get an opportunity. We have signed far too many strikers in the past that were “established” only for them to be a waste of money. I would rather give a youngster a go and if he flops never mind, better than spending millions on someone who could potentially flop and put us out of pocket.

He seems to be a very injury prone player. That is one of the reasons why we should try to replace him IMO.

If we're looking to get close to or break our transfer record I think we need to be very confident that the player will be a success for us. I don't really see many strikers that would be affordable enough and a clear upgrade on Richarlison.

Perhaps go for Toney as an option to alternate with Richarlison.
