What's happened to Lassana Diarra too? Is he even in the squad? Guy should be a starter all the time.

It's a macaronic line up imo. If you start Carroll then fair enough start Milner and Downing but with Welbeck i'd go with Walcott and probably Milner (due to no other options). Downing's only saving grace is his crossing and who will he be crossing too when Welbeck drops deep as he usually does.

owned.

good post, agreed with this.

BUT.....i still think a draw is in the cards specifically for the reasons you've made, you'v got flexible versatile workmen through that entire midfield up. i think Hodgson is making a play more for a draw than anything else...and a hopeful counter with the full backs pushing on ....forcing milner and downing narrow and hoping for something from the front pair

but i'm leaning more to a france win now, until kick off though you cant be sure of what kind of attitude england will be playing with

cause france have had their issues too with defending recently, they can be hurt....

So how does that make the line up macaronic? All you've suggested is if we're playing Welbeck then put Walcott in ahead of Downing so you're not really changing much at all.....

Nah not changing much at all..

except changing the dynamic of the team, the way they set up, the way they'll go about the game and their general game plan. But besides all that not changing much at all.

The space is there in the Spanish final third and italy's passing long and short has been good. Spain aren't as effective as barca at winning the ball back high up the pitch either, although they do still push the players on to do this thus leaving space in midfield defence.

That said spain could just walk thru you at any moment.

I'm on iniesta as 1st scorer. Bit of interest while watching
