The "Official" 2013/14 Other teams matches thread

Put out our second string and we beat Bayern away despite being 2-0 down. To say this season is frustrating would be sugar-coating it.

At least you have the 6-0 and 7-0 results to enjoy. We beat Hull at home with a dodgy penalty!

Kompany on the bench. How did Hart do?

Hart was solid and we looked better defensively. Their goals were offside if I'm being picky.

Don't get me wrong, I am taking nothing for granted! I still have vivid memories of being beaten 8-1 by Middlesbrough and conceding 4 goals inside the first 15 minutes against Arsenal!

Mathematically they could be unseeded but I think they're very likely to be seeded.

Cheers for that.

Some real big guns dropping down from the CL, really looking forward to Mondays draw. This comps just got serious.

Getting to night games is a bit of a pain at moment due to work, but I think if we pull out Ajax or Porto in the Last 32 I many have to call in a few favours. Especially Ajax, I would love to see them at WHL

Make sure you dont this weekend!

Good result for City last night, and as usual I was impressed by Pellegrini in his radio interview. IMO he is the classiest manager in the premier league - I like Martinez but Pellegrini is a very unusual combination: he seems very smart, with an air of patrician confidence, but he's also relaxed and modest: the journo asked how last night's result compared to other victories in Europe, and he dismissed the question as irrelevant, saying that it isn't about him, it's about the team.
Let's say that AVB dedicates himself to football management, and enjoys success: in 20 years time, he might have that laid back authority, which Pellegrini has.

Him not understanding the goal difference rule is pretty embarrassing

Not sure that anyone understood the rule did they? Doesn't detract from his style though, which I like a lot.

The journalists covering the game understood the rule because they questioned him on it in the press conference. Coaches are paid a fortune to understand and prepare for situations like this and where they finish could have a big impact on their prospects in the competition. I would be livid if it happened to us.

I'm not trying to detract from the performance though. It is a great result, they have some fantastic players and when on form they are a joy to watch.

To be fair it was a "sort of" dead rubber, barring a home thumping which was always highly unlikely. They were cruising and took their foot off the gas, much like in the second leg last year against Arsenal. Think City will win the title this year, but only make the semis at best of Champions League.

its not just the manager though, the players should know themselves
