The "Official" 2013/14 Other teams matches thread

that was a good goal from morrison though, and it narrowly missed 3 england defenders, hart wouldn't have had the time to see it coming.

Nah, Joe should have saved it easily, there are no excuses. But people seem to forget the absolute blinders he has played for England recently.

someone has to win those awards, if you are the best of a bad bunch you are still brick, Reina is well pointed out case in point

What? Do you really think the keepers last season were brick? Bizarre statement, especially considering how successful Lloris' debut season was. And Reina started his decline two seasons ago, at which point he has already lost the glove to Joe.

Aye, because three Golden Gloves in a row is expected for a tinkle-poor keeper

Has anyone here said that Joe Hart is a tinkle-poor keeper? If so they're obviously wrong.

The point that was being made by marky in the post you quoted was a different one at least.

Pepe Reina agrees.

Yeah.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Premier_League_Golden_Glove

The golden glove has seemingly never been given to a goalkeeper outside the top 4. Since it's based purely on the number of clean sheets a lot of factors in addition to how good the goalkeeper is will heavily influence who actually wins an award like this.

Rather unsurprising that Emirates Marketing Project, one of the most consistently defensive and boring teams in the top 4 under Mancini has had a lot of clean sheets. Equally unsurprising that Reina won quite a few when they had super boring Benitez in charge.

Liverpool especially went out and targeted to win the bloody thing.

Carragher back in 2009

"We can't win the league now but there are a number of targets we can aim for," he said on the club’s official website.

"We want to keep a clean sheet and we want Pepe to have a chance of the Golden Glove for the third season running.

“Pepe is one behind Van der Sar now and there's a chance Van der Sar won't play next week, so we wanted to make sure he got a clean sheet today.

the standard of goalkeeping now compared to 20 years ago is incredibly poor, there are not any great goalkeepers anymore

not really an other team, but our match against Maribor is coming on now on FSC. Plenty of streams for that channel.
