The new, new manager thread - Pt 3

you genuinely believe that in his 4 year stint here...that was the only game that showed he was a serious manager? Ok GB (Milo I will quote posts like this all day long).

They were the only games I remember where I thought we played with the authority and control of a big team. We were imperious, rather than plucky. The rest was all typical cavalier but fragile/soft underbelly Spurs.

It was a sight of the direction we need to go in if we're ever going to be contenders for major honours again.

There was definitely something different about those games. Never seen us play with that discipline before.

Palacios and Sandro were outstanding.

I must say the discipline, planning and application that was seen in our win vs Arsenal (when Rose scored THAT goal) was probably even better.

That game for me was a glimpse of how really tactical prepared Harry could have been, if he had determination to concentrate on the coaching/preparation side of things long enough

Does anyone remember our midfield that day?

Lennon - Palacios - Sandro - Pienaar.

I remember people abusing Harry for the decision. The fact we won at the San Siro with both Modric and Bale out was heroic. Considering those two guys are now at Real Madrid is a testament to how good that was. You have Pienaar at Everton, Palacios struggling for games at Stoke and Lennon who most on here want sold. These players were heroes that day and my GHod what a performance

Hats off to Gallas for his goal line save too.

Any chance someone can paste that article? I cant view it properly at work for some reason....

Frank de Boer Makes Contact Over Tottenham Hotspur Role

Ajax manager Frank de Boer has made contact with Tottenham Hotspur over becoming their new manager, according to ex-Netherlands team-mate Bolo Zenden.

De Boer is among the contenders to replace Tim Sherwood at White Hart Lane, with Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino and Napoli manager Rafael Benitez the other possible candidates.

And according to Zenden – who played with De Boer for the Dutch national team – the ex-Barcelona defender has taken matters into his own hands over the vacant position at Tottenham.

When originally asked about Benitez's hopes of joining Tottenham, Zenden told talkSPORT: "He loves the English game, He loves to manage his teams in England and it is just a sidestep to be back in Italy.

"He has won a cup [with Napoli] but I'm sure in the future he will be back in England. If that is going to be with Tottenham, I'm not sure.

"I've also heard that Frank de Boer has been in touch with the people at Tottenham. If that's going to happen who knows?"

Sherwood was dismissed a season into his 18-month deal at Spurs after guiding the club to sixth in the Premier League and into next season's Europa League. The former technical director in north London had originally replaced Andre Villas-Boas, who left in December.

Chairman Daniel Levy, who is searching for the 11th manager of his reign at Tottenham, has come under scrutiny for his refusal to give managers time, with Villas-Boas and Sherwood sacked last season merely months into their respective tenures.

Former Tottenham boss Glenn Hoddle says the club won't succeed until they give a manager time.

"It was always going to be a difficult one for Tim on an 18 month contract but Spurs have to look at long term getting some continuity otherwise they'll struggle," Hoddle told talkSPORT.

"Changing the manager so many times in a short period isn't going to be healthy or bring the success the fans want."

Indeed. It makes you wonder what might have been if we'd been able to rotate and use Pienaar more; 2011-12 would likely have meant we'd have not been pipped for 3rd and we wouldn't have struggled so much whenever Lennon was out...sigh...

I can see de Boer ending up at Southampton actually.

Also re the Hoddle comments, I read somewhere the other day that if you exclude Nicholson, Burkinshaw and all the caretakers, the average length of tenure of all our post-war managers is about 2 years. So not something new under ENIC at all.

if you are looking post war to pre enic and you exclude Bill Nic and Burks that doesn't leave much of a sample

This morning, We have made contact with FDB this week - This afternoon, FDB says no contact has been made this week

I wonder if Levy thinks he will actually have a chance with Ancelotti after the weekend?

who is dan brett & why does he look like a fat chick?

If that is indeed true. I have no doubt de Boer will be our new manager. I have no problem with that at all.
