The Limp Struggle to Sneak into the top 4 2021/22

They still have Leicester, Liverpool, Man U and West Ham to play, but yeah we’ve massively messed up to drop behind them so easily.

Theres still a chance though. We must beat them and then we’ll be level on points with them just 1 game in hand…

They are def favourites, but fingers crossed they fudge it up…

We aren’t good enough to make a fist of it.

Yes they have some tough games but so do we and man utd also.

Fecking Wolves giving ARSEnal and Spammers 3 points each this week :(

Hopefully the Goons pick up a couple of injuries to key players which puts an end to their winning streak.

I don’t know why people are whinging at Wolves. They aren’t consistent enough to beat three teams in and around them, just like we aren’t consistent enough to do so, and just like West Ham and the others aren’t. It’s all much of a muchness….

Yeah, Wolves have done us no favours the last few weeks. They were woeful today, benched all their best players and looked utterly clueless.

Think they realised they were in danger of finishing in 7th and qualifying for the Fizzy Pop Pigfarmers Conference League...they aren't daft

It was probably better that west ham won than wolves. West ham aren't finishing above arsenal or utd.

Ha ha. We still have to play the same clubs. In fact, our remaining opponents are the same as Arsenal's except for Burnley and Brentford for us and Palace and Leeds for them. Which I'd consider even up.

I think we will play well, win most games the rest of the way and get 5th or 6th. But 4th really looks a bridge too far now. Really have to beat Arsenal (whenever that gets re-scheduled) and hope they endure some bad breaks.

We will likely advance in the FA Cup so we'll have the more congested fixture list to deal with. If Conte were to guide us to 4th this humble-jumble of a season, it would be one of his greatest achievements.

Arsenal still have chelsea. It was another postponed game. But agree, it's going to be very tough to catch them. As our form stands we won't do it.

Thanks for adding. Missed that. On paper, very tough game for them but all depends when it gets played, innit?

You just know if they leave that one to the very end, once Chelsea have their top three placement sorted, then Chelsea will roll over for them if winning means we have a chance of top four. In fact, I'd bet on that happening. Just like we can count on the league squeezing in the Arsenal game when it least suits us and best suits them.

Man U and Woolwich are actually close to Chelsea and in theory could pull them back into it but ultimately I believe they (Chelsea) will have enough about them and more than capable of going on a 6-game winning streak.

I've always felt that Wolves wont score enough goals to seriously challenge the Top 6 let alone Top 4. West Ham staying in Europe for a while would be helpful as a distraction - those 2 games with Sevilla come 8just before league games at home to Villa and away to us (subject to FA Cup involvement).

I still think we'll be too inconsistent - we'll need at least 8 wins from remaining 13 and within that we must beat Woolwich and take at least a point off United and West Ham. We should rightfully enjoy the win at Leeds but must remember that Brentford aside they were team in the league on the poorest run of form.

They were
But they also could have taken points off United
Arsenal would need to keep this form up which they haven’t done for a long while and there also not scoring freely (6 goals this year so far IIRC) so anything could happen with them
West Ham have been consistent out of all the teams but the level isn’t amazing
it comes down to when these teams and us play each other imo

I think we'll pip Wolves to 7th. West Ham will finish in 6th above us by a point or two or even perhaps just goal difference.

4th is between Arsenal and Man Utd with their games against us perhaps being pivotal (I think we'll lose to Man Utd at Old Trafford and draw with Arsenal at our place).

I think we’re well in the running for 4th now
Arsenal have played 8 games this year and only scored 6 goals IIRC

We have played 13 and scored more despite having some poor form and games in very close proximity

United we will see in the next two weeks when their tough fixtures kick in

West Ham have been solid but don’t seem to be able to get any gaps from the teams below them

Just worked out the last game I actually saw us win was Morecambe on 9th January (and they needed the Calvary bringing on to beat them)
Chelsea (h) - 0-1
Leicester (a) - 3-2 (couldn't get a ticket)
Chelsea (a) - 0-2 (couldn't get a ticket)
Brighton (h) - 3-1 (family commitments)
So'ton (h) - 2-3
Wolves (h) - 0-2
Emirates Marketing Project (a) - 3-2 (couldn't get a ticket)
Burnley (a) - 0-1
Leeds (a) - 4-0 (couldn't get a ticket)
Boro' (a) - 0-1

Last 10 Games - 4 wins/6 Losses - Attended 5 all losses

I'm thinking maybe I shouldn't be attending Monday night :(

Sounds like a good idea. ;)
