City had no KDB and they did a hatchet job on Rodri. Arsenal have this annoying knack of playing teams when they’re not at full strength.

Arsenal's desire to just get over the line has been evident in recent weeks. But when the shoe is on the other foot and the Gunners need to play dirty, they are willing to change tact themselves.

Speaking after the win over Tottenham, which preceded the draw at City, Arteta said: "It's a real compliment to the team. Any player in any area of the pitch is ready to do what a lot of people call 'the ugly things on the pitch'.

"They still enjoy to do that part of the game and when you do that, you start to become a very complete team that can win in any context."



So roll on this title race and set a new date in the diary. The weekend of February 1 and 2. The return fixture at a raucous Emirates Stadium.

To look at things objectively, this approach is hardly surprising.

They have FAILED 2 years in a row to overcome City.
City are a juggernaut.
I said last year, the challenge almost always entails accumulating 90+ points..
So how do you go about that.

With a team this deep into a managerial cycle, Arteta will have a very good handle on the players he is in charge of. He knows what they are capable of, knows their strengths and has their complete attention and focus. He can manipulate that to his wishes.

Arsenal can play brilliant football, they've proven that BUT it didn't add up to winning any trophy let alone the league.

With the control he has, he'll cut his cloth accordingly in EVERY match, 3pts at all costs. He realizes now how valuable every single point is. City will not let you off. The margins are tiny.

The question is, if in their situation, and given the above, how would we feel if we were in the same scenario?
 
He was being clever when he said "you'll see who's injured when they are missing for Bolton'. The reporter should have replied.. "But they'll all be fine for the weekend though right?.....right?"
