Surreys strike rate is mad, I know they must be wary and want to set in but 9 of 53 haha. I think they will see it out but there is also a risk of being too conservative, fine line between protecting your wicket and runs on the board, you lose two wickets and you are way behind the par.

Proud of the chase, had to be brave today and ir didn't happen. For a club as small as Essex to push Surrey till the last week bodes well for the future.

Summer is going to be telling for Essex, is Cook and Browne go then likely a rebuild and a consolidation season.

I honestly don’t know what else Essex could have done.

They were my favourites for the title at lunch and have been superb for the last ten games or so.

We should note a possible twist remains, they play a relegated Northants team next week whilst Surrey go to Southampton to play Hampshire who are still chasing second place.

The Surrey lead is 20 points (and the back up of the head to head win). But the luck may run out!

Apart from 2 Hampshire players the rest were out for low scores so with a bit of luck things could have been different for Essex

Essex made to follow on and Surrey are Champions as neither obtain any batting points.

Was a massive ask.

I am intrigued now to see what we do at Essex, could be the difference between going for another title or it falling apart. Losing both openers, if it happens will be huge and might create a domino effect

I thought it was stupid batting, plenty of over left for aggressive stroke play, no need for trying to smash every ball out of stadium. It must be a team plan as did same thing in New Zealand game.
