I think we’ve got some very good players and a decent squad but we’re not playing that well, all a bit scrappy.

i wonder whether the format will help us a bit though? We famously play loads of tests and 20/20’s but not many one dayers. So we’ve come in to this well under cooked and not fully knowing our best side. Playing a guaranteed 9 games is a decent opportunity to play ourselves in to form and find our best XI (conditions dependent, if it’s a spinning track etc.).

The fixture list has also been kind with Bangladesh and Afghanistan in the first 3 matches so games we should win while finding form.

just looking for a positive spin.

I don't get the plan for this side anymore. Gone from the best in the world the pretty terrible, where the Test side has now moved forward. Maybe thats how it works.

Feels odd that we had so many players, young and fresh play a host of those meaningless friendlies before the world cup yet we have the same nurdlers in their 30s limping about and offering zero energy.

I think we are at the point where you see what happens when you refuse to make the tough decisions on players.

Yep, they keep mentioning how this could be the end for 20 odd players after this tournament! Definitely need to find some new talent
