I reckon Naughton might be off (possibly even to Villa) and we'll promote Smith. Smith at RB sounds more ready for promotion than Fryers at LB anyway.

all the talk about us being close etc. i dont think we've really been linked with anyone else so solidly as much as Benteke and Chadli over the past week and half so i imagine it is them unless it's Benteke and someone out of the blue.
If the rumours/ITKs are right and we end up with Paulinho, Chadli and benteke as our summer signings then it'll be the positions I wanted and would certainly makes us stronger than the season just gone. Add in avb having a full pre season with the squad and kaboom back, we should be quietly confident of going better than last year

I'm becoming resigned to the idea. I don't not rate Benteke, I just don't think he's what we need to solve our scoring at home problem.
I'm quite against Chadli, particularly if we do get Benteke. Our front 6 then would all be enormous, powerful, quick players, with not a through ball between them. As above - we'd be superb on the road, but impotent at home or against teams who defend deep.
We need someone like Bernard, not Chadli.

I certainly don't think Chadli is that guy who will cut teams open with a splitting pass but if he's only £7m and we can afford it as well as being able to afford someone creative than I am all for the deal, it's great depth.
We still miss that creative guy though.

That sounds like a Pienaar or Dempsey signing though. You shouldn't need to try and reason transfers. You should be 'fudge yeah' about them.

We do indeed need that creative guy. I would think however that our full-backs and wingers would at least feel that it would be worth crossing the ball into the box in the air if Benteke was on board. More than 15mfor hi, would hurt me too, but he does attack a cross in the air and does bully defenders. Perhaps that through-ball against defences that sat deep might not be quite as necessary, as we might get more joy from crosses into the air anyway.
Well that's my positive spin on it anyway.
