The Academy, NextGen, U18 & U21 Premier League and On-Loan Thread

I agree with your comment re Rose as a winger. As a LB at the end of the season before lat when he played he did well. At the end of last season he didnt. Whether thats due to ability, not playing much or inexperience is too early to tell

I wouldnt give up on him yet

Are you Ryan Mason's friend?

Are we just keeping Obika cos we think he has the potential to sell on for a few hundred thousand? Many others around him have progressed to Championship or Prem loans by now or have simply been released.

Obika is a strange one. I don't personally see a career for him at Spurs but he does have attributes which other strikers don't - it's just his application that is hit and miss.

As things stand now, Obika is Tottenham's third choice striker.

I would imagine that he'll get some first team experience this season in the early Domestic Cup rounds and the Europa League.

He has scored in the europa league he is well worth keeping ;-)

Slightly random question, particularly for someone's first post and especially given that the post you replied to was about Rose and didnt mention Mason!

No, of course I'm not. Why do you ask?

Sorry just thought you were as he is a friend of a friend and I know he has a friend called Adam B also.
As a newbie I saw your post and didn't know how to just ask you personally sorry if it was a problem would have been cool if you was.

SPURS LOAN WATCH

Simon Dawkins cannot stop scoring for San Jose Earthquakes.

The attacking midfielder made it four goals in his last four matches with the second in Earthquakes' 4-0 win against Chivas on Sunday.

The win means Earthquakes are now seven points clear in the MLS Western Conference.

Back in England, John Bostock almost made an immediate impact for Swindon after coming off the bench at half-time against Preston North End in League One on Sunday.

The midfielder struck the crossbar as the Robins tried to haul back a 3-0 half-time deficit. They got one back, but ended up losing 4-1.

In the Championship, Massimo Luongo played 90 minutes as Ipswich Town drew 2-2 against Huddersfield at Portman Road.

Ryan Fredericks didn't feature as Brentford drew 2-2 at Tranmere in League One on Saturday.

Bonganu Khumalo was scheduled to play for PAOK against Atromitos Athens in the Greek Super League on Monday night.

Good stuff

Rather worryingly, Arsenal have the only 100% record in the U-21 Barclays Premier League so far after three matches played.

Tottenham's next U-21 fixture is at home to Stoke City on 17th September, which will probably be played at our new training complex in Enfield.

Sweet!

Remember to watch the Barcelona game to see the Spurs support!

Tickets ordered for the Barcelona game. It'll be nice just to get up there and see some of these players in the flesh and give them some support.

Bit suprised there was a Spurs XI game on

https://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/spurs/News/spursxi-wycombe.page?

Andros Townsend, Ryan Mason, Jon Obika and Jack Munns were all on the scoresheet as a Spurs XI side hammered Wycombe Wanderers 6-0 at Spurs Lodge on Tuesday.

Townsend terrified the Wanderers defence in the first half, and with Tom Huddlestone controlling the midfield we created chance after chance.

Mason put the lads ahead in the 14th minute with a low volley after Wycombe failed to clear a cross into the box and Obika doubled the lead soon after with a close range finish following a superb run and ball into the box from Townsend on the left wing.

Midway through the first half, Mason made it 3-0 from the penalty spot after Obika was brought down when through on goal after an inch perfect through ball from the impressive Townsend.

The scoreline reflected a dominant first half performance in which Wycombe were given very little time on the ball.

Wanderers did improve in the second half and forced Miles into a couple of diving saves, but we extended our lead in the 69th minute after a teasing Nathan Byrne cross evaded Obika in the box only to be bundled in by a Wycombe defender.

Jack Munns got his reward for a working tirelessly thoughtout the match when he turned and shot across the goalkeeper late on to make it 5-0, before Obika scored his second with a low finish after being played through by Huddlestone to seal an impressive victory.

Spurs XI: Miles; Naughton; Byrne; Ekong; Dawson; Dombaxe; Mason; Huddlestone; Obika; Munns; Townsend.

Goals: Mason (14 & 26), Obika (24 & 90), Own goal (69), Munns (81)
