The Academy, NextGen, U18 & U21 Premier League and On-Loan Thread

Pritchard seems a very talented young players. I remember watching a few nextgen games last season and he was involved in alot of our chances. The game that sticks out the kost was when we thrashed Inter i think he had a hand in almost every goal.

A few Ipswich fans compared him to Frans Thijssen on some forum of theirs. He can't be that good, surely?

I suppose that the main caveat has to be that this praise is based on only three competitive games thus far, in addition to a few pre season friendlies. When they're still praising him so effusively in a couple of months, or February, then we can sure we've got a player on our hands.

Still, for a young player whose only previous experience of senior football was one Carling Cup game last season, it's a very promising start.

I particularly like the fact that he appears to be both combative and technically excellent.

As for the comparisons to Thijssen, Xavi and Modric...........we can but hope!

Bentaleb, Coulthirst and Dombaxe celebrating.

Good report on Windy's website for that 3-4 game. We played with 10 men for 60 minutes.

UNDER-21S RELISHING UNITED CLASH

Chris Ramsey insists our Under-21 squad will be determined to show what they can do against Manchester United tonight.

We meet the Reds at Altrincham’s Moss Rose stadium for a 7pm kick-off in the Barclays Under-21 Premier League.

The lads were rocked in their opening game at Saudi Sportswashing Machine on August 18. They were 2-0 down inside five minutes and 5-1 down at half-time before dominating the second half and eventually losing 6-4.

Assistant Technical Co-Ordinator Chris expects a reaction tonight.

“We’d expect them to be hurt by that result because whenever you go out to play a match, you want to win,” he said.

“If it’s a loss, or a win, players will react in one way or another. We certainly don’t want to find ourselves 5-1 down at half-time and having to climb that mountain again.”

Darren Fletcher played as United opened their campaign with a 1-0 win at Stoke in Group Two of the new league.

“They always do things right and we know they will have players who are hungry and want to do it the United way,” added Chris.

“We will go there and try our best to do it the Tottenham way. The players will give their all and will try to play in a fashion that suits the way we are trying to develop. It will be a big night for a lot of the players.”

THREE YOUNG LIONS

Posted 29 August 2012 11:44am

Steven Caulker, Danny Rose and Adam Smith have been selected for England Under-21s for the forthcoming European U21 Championship qualifiers against Azerbaijan and Norway.

The Young Lions are on the road first next week as they travel to Baku in Azerbaijan on Thursday week, September 6.

They then face Norway at Chesterfield's Proact Stadium for a 7pm kick-off on Monday, September 10.

Steven - who was part of Roy Hodgson's senior squad for the friendly against Italy a fortnight ago - and Adam have both won four caps so far at Under-21 level. Danny already has 21 to his name.

England have started impressively Group Eight with five wins in six games, the only loss at Belgium back in November, 2011. That defeat was avenged in style with a 4-0 win in the return fixture in February.

Stuart Pearce's youngsters are currently top the group - two points clear of Norway - and wins against Azerbaijan and Norway would secure a play-off double header in October, where outright victory over two legs would see the them progress to the 2013 European Under-21 Championship Finals in Israel.
