The Academy, NextGen, U18 & U21 Premier League and On-Loan Thread

The club spent £2m on this pile of brick. Soon as we signed him I said the very same thing, total waste of money.

It is hardly surprising. Young players, especially non-English, seldom progress at Spurs. We seldom give them chance to show what they are worth.

Course I'd never seen him play. No one had really! I didn't say brick did I? I'm saying, gut feeling, I knew it was a PR stunt and nothing more.

So you knew a player (whom I'm certain you'd hardly seen before bar the odd WC game) would be brick before he even kicked a ball?

In a nutshell: yes.

He's just one of those players whom we tend to sign every 18mths or so, which you just KNOW ain't ever gonna see the light of day at our club. Who knows why they're signed - could be for a whole number of reasons - but they are, and and you can ALWAYS tell that they're just brick and will never make the first team.

Bongani Khumalo? Funny name, but that's all he's got going for him.

For me - the PR / Investec signing was Pienaar - massive household name and a safe PL bet - that I could understand.

Apart from the sister-club 'links' - I really do not understand why Khumalo was signed because we didn't really need him per se.

It's not the player that bothers me its the price paid, £2 fudging million! Pienaar cost £2m - We would be lucky to get a 1/4 of that back for him.

Maybe it was an obligation as part of the club link up. Friendlies, tours +.... although I don't really get the benefit to Spurs of the SuperSport link.

Me neither. Maybe Levy is just siphoning off funds to his future South African squirrel hole 8-[

Poor Bongani, he must've really thought he'd made it. I wonder what dough he's on? Can't be Jay-Z dollarz

Supersort is not even the 'biggest' club down here (although one of the richest)

I know Spurs have invested in some local academies and youth development programs (which is great by the way as most of these were done in poor/underprivilged areas) so perhaps they needed a 'face' for the banners.

Mind you - if a player was 'needed' - they could have gone someone much better at the time

The plot thickens.

There is only one possible explanation: we have (...or, hopefully that's now a had) an employee at the club who actually thought Bongani Khumalo could play football.

fudge :(
